Unclickable Configuration Dropdown?

mike_hölschermike_hölscher Member Posts: 105 PRO
In an Assembly, when I hoover or click on this part including configurations I get this teasing pop-up with dropdown box.
But it seems impossible to click...

What is going on here?

    The popup is telling you which configuration the part is at.  To change it, right click on the instance and select "Change configuration..." from the context menu.

    @mike_hölscher This is to give you a quick view of what the current configuration of that part is within the assembly. If you have the proper permissions, you can right-click on that instance to change its configuration.

    Look at the bottom section of our help: https://cad.onshape.com/help/Content/configurations.htm?Highlight=configuration

    Thanks @ilya_baran and @bradley_sauln for the replies. That was already clear to me :wink:

    The question is, why is this information displayed as a dropdown box? If this is only info for us to look at, there is no point in having a dropdown-box. This little small triangle/down arrow next to the configuration name just begs to be clicked.

    Is this a teaser for a future functionality of easier configuration swapping? It must be, why else would a UX team put a use-cue like that in there...

    I agree with Mike's assessment on both counts.  :)

    @mike_hölscher

    That would be nice :smile: We'll start by making it less confusing, but making it work is also on our collective minds.
