How to print, save, export a sketch

mario_darceuilmario_darceuil Member Posts: 108 ✭✭
I have created a sketch of a  kitchen floor with all of the dimensions in the sketch. How do obtain and save a full copy of this sketch so that I can print it later? I tried Print Screen in windows but it gives me all of the other menu items and the view cube and others features in Onshape. along with the sketch. I just want the floor plan with the dimensions that's all.

Create a drawing. Sketches are intended for modelling. You will have to recreate the dimensions in the drawing though.

This is NOT an ideal workflow as the image will not be scaled in any particular way. You can either 'show dimensions' on that sketch and then take a windowed screenshot of it (there are many programs for the screenshot).

However, as Neil said, you should be creating a drawing of that sketch and putting the dimensions there.

Use the Snipping Tool in Windows10.  Snipping Tool allows you to drag a box around your sketch and save it, or print it, or both.

If only there were a button or dialog that let us use selected or all dimensions from sketches in drawings. Why should we have to do that work twice if the sketch dimensions are already what we want. Remember, CAD should save time, not add to it. This has been requested by the way, but not implemented (yet ;-)).
