transparent parts not transparent in assembly

I have an assembly that has a transparent part. When I create the assembly the part seems to lose the transparency in the assembly. Is there a way to keep it transparent in the assembly?
Appreciate any tips on this.

The assembly will show the parts as they are defined in the Part Studio. Did you set the appearance of the part (right-click edit appearance) or just change the shading settings? The former is the correct method.Senior Director, Technical Services, EMEA6

I edited the appearance at the part level per your comment and it is now correct.
