Feature Script availability

robert_scott_jr_robert_scott_jr_ Member Posts: 317 ✭✭✭

I was interested in a Feature Script (Project Body FS) used in a response in the post: https://forum.onshape.com/discussion/14643/help-needed-to-create-a-frame-around-a-part#latest.

I just wanted to take a look at it to determine if I might like to use it. I made a copy of the document linked by romeograham.

Within the document, I attempted to use Add Custom Feature to access it but it was not listed.

I also checked here: https://www.onshape.com/features/custom-features

but didn't find it there. Why was I not successful?

    Two good options:

    1) If you don't care about editing the Part Studios, no need to make a copy. You can add the custom features from a public document to your toolbar right there:

    2) After you've copied, in a Part Studio, press the "+ custom features" button in your toolbar. Clicking features from the current document (or other documents) will those custom features to your toolbar. Note that this dialog has separate tabs for "Current document" and "Other documents" – It's possible you were searching in other documents tab for features from the current doc

Sorry @robert_scott_jr_ I forgot that FeatureScripts used don't automatically appear in your library.
Here's the direct link to thr Project Bodies FS: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/201b33ee5450cefbca3b34b8/v/9028ee782ed5ec471178bca1/e/03f0c71d4856a8408c7766a0

Thanks for responding. I am unable to open that document. Every time I try I get the 'loading document' circling arrow for a few seconds and the a message that prompts me to refresh my browser. No problem with other documents

It's working for me. Perhaps if you remove the trailing tab specifier? https://cad.onshape.com/documents/201b33ee5450cefbca3b34b8/v/9028ee782ed5ec471178bca1

Thanks for trying to help. Still didn't work nor does copying and pasting the address. I was using Firefox. I tried a different browser and was successful.

I tested this link.  It loads in Chrome, and loads in FireFox.  No idea what's wrong in your FireFox.

@robert_scott_jr_ sounds like a cache issue then. Look for how to clear your cache in the browser you're using (no need to clear cookies). Also, make sure you are using a supported browser (not the old edge or internet explorer) and that https://cad.onshape.com/check has all green checkmarks.
