Question about mate features in Onshape

dok_mandok_man Member Posts: 2 EDU

Hello, new to Onshape

I created a simple 3 part model and I connect the mates via revolute

There is a base, arm 1 and arm 2

revolute 1 - the arm 1 will rotate on the base (" pedestal")

revolute 2 - and arm 2 after being connected on arm 1 will rotate around it

after I connected them when starting the revolute 1 movement the arm 2 will stay detached and wont move with arm 1, I thought that because it was connected to arm1 it (arm 2) would also stay attached

Assuming you've set up everything properly, your model should behave as you expect. I would recommend taking a look at the following video, and trying to apply its recommendations to your own model.

If you make your document public and post a link to it, that would also make it easier to troubleshoot what exactly is going wrong.
