How to extract or make pressing die from sheet metal part drawing?

We have completed a sheet metal part, let's say an aircraft wing rib. Now that there is a 3D model of the part. How can we extract a pressing die with measurements so we can produce a forming die? Or do we have to make a solid model to fit inside our rib 3D model?

Just learning Onshape and its capabilities.

    What I would do is make another part studio.
    Then derive your formed part into the new part studio.

    Draw a 3D box around the part.
    Boolean subtract the part from the 3D box (With offset) 
    Split the 3D box in where you're parting them.

    What you should be left with is a stamping tool and die that forms your part.

    From here you need to add drafts and relief as needed of course.

    But that is generally a good place to start.

    Forming die geometry may need to be further modified to account for spring-back, depending on geometry and tolerance requirements.

    Right, I just show how to get the negative of the shape. After that it's up to a die designer to do the typical modifications to make it a die.
