assemblies

I am looking for a solution to paste-copied parts into the place in the same assembly, attached or mated to another point in the assembly. The problem is that it is positioned visually to the near position but aligned with the plane parallel to the screen aligned to orign point Look at the attached video to see what I mean.

Hi all, Still learning about feature script but I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience using Feature Script to export/output data (specifically mass property values like mass, center of mass, and moment of inertias) into either the command line or ideally into a txt file for an entire assembly. This action would…

New Onshape user here. I'm trying to do something that seems like it should be so simple. I have a small assembly that I've just inserted into a new empty assembly. Just getting a feel for things, I see I can freely click to move the sub-assembly in space. So then I want to move it so that a particular vertex in the…

Hi, I'm new to OnShape, but have been having a wonderful time with the product. I decided to give myself a stretch project, which is a toy that features a cam which drives two arms; at the intersection of these arms is a gliding part which houses a magnet (meant to be a bee following a path between some flowers). There are…

We would like to move away from traditional assembly drawings and work exclusively with 3D assemblies. I am now looking for a way to specify assembly information such as tightening torque and adhesives. The document notes are too general or quickly become too confusing for our 10 assemblies. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hey there, so I have this project that I'm working on, and for it, I need to do a system with bellcranks and pushrods. The thing here is that the measurements for the pushrod seem to be perfectly fine and to not have any issue whatsoever, but I'm getting the error that the revolute mate I'm using overdefines the assembly.…

Hello, I am new to Onshape and creating assemblies in CAD in general. I am attempting to design and model a robot for my school's competition robotics team, but I have run into issues with assembly regeneration times. With only half of the robot's drivebase completed, regeneration times are frequently above 10-15 seconds,…

I'm using tangent mate because the two objects make contact at curved points on both parts. The first image is how I'd like it to be mated, but if I click and drag it to the left or right, it will pop over to the other constrained position. I understand WHY it's bistable, I just dont want it to be. Is there another mate I…

The scenario: I've included 4 references to a wheel part in my assembly and I'd like to give each a meaningful name: front_left, front_right, etc. I don't see the option to "rename" an instance the popup menu. Is this not possible? Thank you.

Very rarely I attach an assembly mate connector to the assemblies origin. I may do this if I want to refence a stable direction for patterning or something which isn't dependent on geometry. When I use this assembly in a parent assembly, I'm seeing this sub assembly mate connector reattach itself to the parents origin 😲.…

Hi everyone, I made a new featurescript to create pyramid and hemisphere guide pins for 3D printed molds. I based the functionality on the hole tool, where you just have to select points. Add points to the parting surface and then select them to add and subtract guide pins from each side. Link: William's 3D Printing…

First let me explain what I mean by "boolean controlled geometry in master sketch". Would like to do something that I don't think is possible so I am seeking alternative options that might make more sense context Here is an example of what I would like to do High level, say I'm trying to create a variable driven model of a…

Hi, I have constrained everything well so far, but adding a pin slot to mate connector 5 does not work. I have tried removing the pin constraing on the pin above it before doing this, but it does not solve the issue.…
