Unwrapping Tube/Pipe (Cylinders)
How would I go about unwrapping tube ends? I'm using the beam feature to model a tube chassis. Looking to unwrap the ends of the tubes so I can have a template to cut/notch the tube ends in preparation for welding. Any solutions to this? It seems it can't be done with sheet metal...

Inch vs. MM drawings.
I work with various machine shops. Some are OK with my mm dimensioned drawings and others demand inch dimensions. I can's seem to switch an existing drawing between the two systems so I made separate drawings for each system. Is there a better way?

Making micro-coil
hello, i'm trying to make a micro coil (OD -0.35mm; wire thickness -0.075mm; length -300 mm; no pitch), but there's a limit of making that kind of coil (the limit is 1000 reps which give me length of 75mm). i can make few coils and add them in my assembly, but maybe anyone got a better suggestion to make this kind of coil?…

Drawing angle to vertical line
I need to show an angular dimension to a vertical 'center line'. There are no vertical or horizontal elements in the drawing so I must draw a vertical line from which the angular dimension is drawn. Each time the line turns red. What am I doing wrong?…

Dimension lines in 2D.
Is it possible to place (automatically) multiple dimension lines at a fixed spacing from the piece and each other or do I have to just "wing it"?

Can I determine the internal volume of an assembly?
I wanted to know if there is a way to see the volume of the empty space within an assembly? Ex. I have a t-joint with fittings mated to part. I was curious about the volume of the empty space within the assembly.

Length of a curve
So I need to drive the design to a specific belt pitch length for a series of pulleys. There are 3 arc and 3 line segments. I need to get the length of all of these elements. 1) Would be to select and get a value. Worst solution but I would get there. 2) When a change is made the new value is displayed. This what I did in…

What's the format for entering architectural dimensions?
For example, if I'm putting in 4'2-1/4" as a driven dimension, what would I need to enter for Onshape to recognize? It doesn't seem like it uses a standard similar to either Autocad or Inventor. The closest I've gotten (for the same dimension) is 4ft+2in+1/4in... which is a big waste of time... and makes me think I'm doing…

Creating datums in drawing, when there are no reference elements of value?
I have created a part that has no external features for establishing a datum (B) in a top view. I have found no way to bring the part datums into the drawing, which seems like that should be an absolute. Seriously, how do you transfer design intent with out reference to the model datums? Hidden lines are not selectable in…

Why 50% of dimensions turn RED?
I have developed a casting model. That model is derived to a part file for adding features for machining. I started a drawing so I could add dimensions and details as I develop features. Prevent missing important elements. I then add two o-ring grooves and most of my prior dimensions turn RED. What do to do with red…

Is there a way to dimension to the inside of a radius?
With small radii, I'd like the leader line to go to the inner arc of the radius, so it doesn't add that extra little arc to the print. Is there a way to do this? I've tried clicking pretty much everything, and haven't found it if it's there. Thanks!

Different units for different part studios in a document
I want to be able to set the units for some parts to be inches and some to be mm. I can change the document units and create a new part studio in the desired units, but if I review previously completed part studios they are now displayed in the new unit system. Can individual part studios have different unit settings? I…

Where can I learn a sequence of steps for sketching?
After hand drafting for 20 or so years, I'm learning Onshape. This is my first CAD program. I've been putting in hours of study, listening to tutorials, following and making test sketches, with a fair bit of success. But as soon as I try to make my own sketches for my work (lighting design), I am quickly confounded by my…
