Hello, I've made a parameterized cycloidal drive generation script that I've found very useful, and I thought I'd share it in case anyone else was interested. I'd love any feedback 🙂 https://cad.onshape.com/documents/8b3df8cee04d69a41c0ee558/w/896df62751b78bc0bd9e2148/e/6a0d9aecc7ada0f635581c7a

So I'm trying to make some plant pots that I can 3d print at home on my bambu, and I can't pin down why this loft isn't happy. the two sketches are the same, excpet that the top one is a little larger. Both are fully parameterized, created by usind a pattern that repeats 2 semicircles about the central point. Even if I…

I have been active in the CAD field for about a year now, and I have been somewhat successful in creating the models I have envisioned. But I have been searching for some industry level engineering drawings online so that I can practice my "drawing reading skills". I found a book that has a lot of the parts, but I have…

Hi, I am relatively inexperienced with working with surfaces in Onshape, and have ran into problems when trying to make them solid parts. I am designing a logo that uses hundreds of surface lofts to enclose the top and bottom plates, but the enclose tool doesn't work for me and I run into issues in many of the surfaces…

Hello, I'm looking for the best way to make a Honeycomb wall. unfortunately my part has some "complex" geometry so I can't seem to get the fill pattern tool to work. I started by created a single cell and then orignally did multiple linear patterns to form the wall. I have tried this 2 difference ways one taking 8.91…

I am trying to get the two faces in my document to loft be each time I try the inner profile just goes red. No idea how to fix this, would really appreciate some help. https://cad.onshape.com/documents/a029e4e0f14f06e8c8efb638/w/5c0b632cb8f6c2a9d3d007c4/e/e7762b37295653af6d83ecfc

Hello all! I am trying to create a tensile tester that has bolt-like ends. I've found some decent tutorials on how to create a bolt itself using the helix tool and a triangle sketch to create the thread, however my issue is that I'm not sure how they size the triangle to adjust for the diameter of the thread they want. I'm…

…By physical form/function, or by topic/client/purpose? hello , I’m trying to reorganize my Onshape files and I’m stuck. I have a mix of: Flat/reference items (bookmarks, stencils, nameplates) Practical builds (phone mounts, pencil holders, rulers) Mechanical/engineering projects (jigs, presses, adjustable props)…

Hello, I'm new to Onshape and currently trying to make a train whistle in CAD so I know what to do when I actually make it. But a problem I've been having is trying to cut these corners off (see black lines (not accurate measurements)). Is there anyway to cut these corners off? if so could you tell me how? Thank you for…

I am new to onshape, sorry if the solution is obvious. Document: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/9b712b90de60543aeb13f190/w/e73c67801e1701d10701ad0f/e/3c56750e44be16d0653d9391

Hello! I want to make a mechanical manipulator by SpiBot (https://www.cell.com/device/pdfExtended/S2666-9986(24)00603-3). I have no issue creating a single segment, however, I struggle to come up with good way to shrink them along the axis, as on the drawing. Would love to hear any ideas on how to linearly change scale of…

I have an understanding of the basic tools in the part studio. I desire to gain the necessary skills and experience to land a job as a 3D designer using Onshape. How do I go about this?

Im new on here and do not know how to do anything on here. I have someone I need to make a body for, and this is the only app on the computer my school allows me on at this time. Can someone possible make this for me? They don't want the whole body in one, keep it all together but moveable so they can make it move like…

hi pretty new to Onshape and cad it self by like that u Can design things and I get better all the time. my wife has this clock witb a nice pattern and really want a patten like that on a sphere also and maybe other things But sad to say after a few (lot) tryes its more than I Can at the moment 😔 Can anyone lead me the…

Hello together, I have issues creating a linear pattern. When creating a linear pattern out of a feature, it works in one direction. When choosing the option "Second Direction," it multiplies the 25 × 25, totaling in 625 parts "possibly?" stacked on top of each other. The 8.830 mm are the distance between the origin and…

@Jake_Rosenfeld posted a very helpful article about adding FS at the end of this discussion Jake or others - I have seen this question on forum before but I do not remember a good answer. I know FS is not intended long-term solutions to generally required functions. However, for now there is a lot of good stuff which we…

Hi everyone, I'm looking for the best way (as of 2025) to model hydraulic hoses in Onshape for simple hydraulic assemblies. I already have a library of standard hydraulic components (see attached image), such as cylinders, pumps, valves, and fittings. What I'm missing is an efficient way to connect these components with…

I am a professional engineer with over a decade in modeling experience on multiple platforms (solid edge, solid works, Inventor, and Catia). A large part of my experience with complex modeling was using CATIA with which I excelled with robust design models. During this time, I almost exclusively used what I have come to…

Hi all, I have imported an STL file and would like to design on top of the existing part. However, I cannot create a sketch or plane. Is there a way to start designing with imported STL parts?…

Hello! I'm trying to loft the following cross-section to a point: I want to loft along the curved guide lines that lead from the vertices of the cross section to the top point. However, when I try to add those guides into the loft, I get the following error: I believe it's having a tough time reconciling the guide and the…
