Re: Improvements to Onshape - January 2nd, 2018
Yes the on the fly configs are amazing. Before I would have to make a spiral chute (imagine a spiral staircase), I would copy the document, then start going through all of the features to update height, width, diameter etc. It would take hours... Now I just draw it once and toss it into an assembly, select all the parts… -
Re: Subdivide an element
Hi Jake, I could successfully adapt your pattern, great stuff! Just one little question: I searched where the variables that you defined will be used and I found by chance that clicking in the fields where the value appears that it is referenced with an # like #widthEach. so I can use any variable and use it anywhere in… -
Hiding Features / Vertical Scrollbar getting in the way?
Recently I've been struggling a lot with the show.hide icon in the feature explorer sitting directly under the vertical scrollbar, such that when I wish to hide or show a feature, the scrollbar is clicked instead. The scrollbar only shows up when you near the edge of the feature explorer UI, so it is possible if you are… -

Re: Query a face created by opExtrude
Unfortunately, that was just an error when I was copying over my code to the post. Maybe it doesn't work because I created the rectangle first with skRectangle, then added a line to track with skLine? This is the function which I'm calling to do this, note that some regions are commented out function genCChannel(context is… -
Re: Add Pocket-Hole in Assembly to other Part?
Thank you for your tips and help. They have helped me a lot. I have completely redesigned the workbench and made it configurable. But it is not finished yet. Now I have two more problems/questions:* In the configuration, I use a scaling divisor for simple size changes, e.g., 10 for 1:10. The divisor appears in every… -
Create Depression / Concave / Remove material from Surface - Bike Aerobars
Hi All, Apologies if this is a stupid question... but... I can't work out how to remove material from the top of an extrude. I'm trying to make some new aerobars for my TT bike that can support the entire forearm. I've created sketches for the top and side profiles. Then I extruded the top and removed from the side via a… -
OnShape Rescales Entire Sketch When One Dimension is Added
I find it very inconvenient/annoying that when I start a sketch with some unconstrained lines (e.g. a rectangle), it rescales the entire sketch when the first dimension is added. For example I draw a rectangle of approximately the right width, height and position with respect to other features, and then want to add… -
Trying to do a slot inside a frame
Okay so I have a very basic issue but i'm rather new to this software, I wish to do a frame, the sketch (lets assume is top plane) is as such: 2 rectangles one inside the other, the first extrude makes it all expand, lets say .05 the second extrude expands only the perimeter between the two, lets say .1, then I have a… -
Bug in FeatureScript sample "Brick"
Hello, i already described the issue in https://forum.onshape.com/discussion/6774/lego-dimensions-incorrect but as it seems to be the incorrect forum, noone answered. i printed some individual Lego parts for my son and face some incorrect dimensions with larger column counts. It seems the script uses 7.8 mm for the…
