I cannot recreate the front of this boat
No matter how many sketches, extrusions, chamfers, etc. I've done, I cannot seem to recreate the front of this boat. The front of the boat in the image has a skinny mid section that goes from the top edge of the boat to the bottom whereas my CAD model's mid section increases in width as it goes towards the bottom. I've… -
Rib-type axial cam
I found another thread on barrel cams but my question is a little different. I need to model an axial cam for two cam followers. Unlike the groove-type barrel cam, it will have a raised rib with a follower on each side - sort of the inverse of a grooved barrel cam. This a a bit more complicated in that the width of the rib… -
Laser Joint updated to V4.0: Fixed width pins, corner overcut fillets, and pin fillets!
Direct link to the new version here. Instead of calculating equal pin/gap dimensions, there is now an option to define a specific pin width. This option is only available when in the single joint operation mode. In addition to the option to chamfer convex pin edges to aid insertion, these features can now alternatively be… -
Rectangle Tool - what construction geometry should Onshape provide?
I was disappointed "back in the day" when Solidworks chose to add diagonal construction lines as an option. Of the three possibilities I can think of, it's the least useful. One of the other two possibilities has recently been added to Sldwks (about a decade late, to my way of thinking): a full width construction line in… -
Re: How can I shell objects to maintain a XY dimension thickness to optimize for thin walled 3D printing
Hi @andrew_slovak I also would like to have a function to shell it with the same thickness in XY-Plane. That will speed up the print and make it cleaner, I agree. I don't know what slicer you use, but a few of them have a function to vary the line width to reduce unecessary infill. In the Bambu Studio it is called… -
Re: Return within drawing table cell ?
Ahh... Looking at it further, you have to force some text wrapping in the cell before this will work. I found that I needed at least 3 lines that were text wrapped before I could add the carriage return. It might be easier to just paste the text into the cell like @john_mcclary previously suggested. If you have the… -
Re: Is it possible to set a minimum & maximum value for a sketch dimension ?
Thank you guys ! Thanks for your first link Bruce. It lead me to Brian Brady's comment: brian_brady said:You can also nest conditionals by placing another complete conditional statement in either the true or false positions. I suggest using parentheses around the second statement (may even be necessary) for readability.… -
Re: Scale of drawings
For everyone's information, we haven't yet implemented the ability to have a default scale for a model on a sheet, but we will eventually. After that, new views will default to that scale (unless they're some form of child view whose scale is based on a parent view), and any views whose scale is different from the default… -

You can change the Width, Height, Depth, and Thickness variables to adjust the overall dimensions or the thickness of the wood. If you… -
