Assembly mates and pattern created in part studio
At first, this is not improvement request (yet) and I'm not complaining - but I would like to have discussion if others feel the same. When designing new stuff and giving ideas a shape - I almost always use single part studio to quickly see if things will look like they do in my head. And this is one of the main reasons… -
Onshape toosl for model prep for CAE analysis?
Hello All, My first post. I do analysis work for hire. I do a lot of FEA, CFD, & MBD. I have a CAD tool (SWX) that I use in conjunction with CAE pre processors to enable the construction of geometry for CAE models. I am wondering where Onshape is in its development of its tool set, in having tools that would be as good or… -
Modular Cabinet Model & List of Helpful Custom Features
Modular Cabinet This project is still in progress, it is complete enough to introduce to those who may want it. As you import the cabinet into your document, you choose the attributes that you want your cabinet to have.… -
Re: FeatureRequest: FeatureScript expanded to Assembly and/or drawings
I think I would be Ok with the scripts running on the user's command. To me, this would be analogous to a macro in a spreadsheet. Perhaps, there could actually be some "macro recording" function as well. I think its somewhat difficult to come up with very compelling use cases without knowing exactly what the capabilities… -
Re: Hard time figuring out how to use assemblies
@kustaa_2 OK, was feeling a bit guilty about walking all over your thread so here is an example of how I would go about this task. :) :) Feel free to pick out any bits you like the idea of. https://cad.onshape.com/documents/a885a7ce308602785bdae0fa/w/671ab048f6b854a8aceaa4e5/e/978140440a32dd91a221c21f (1) First Up I've… -

Hi all, Thanks again for pitching in! @owen_sparks, you can find the model here:https://cad.onshape.com/documents/7a718b6d8bf3b9c0547e6d8c/w/c80e2acd2d7ab0fa4ec09ecf/e/49d9646d7e3a9d6fa9128f53 @NeilCooke, I am sadly over 100 features. I need to keep the parts few in number for export at the end (keeping, for example, all… -
Re: Long regen times for text extrudes
The method of dividing up your sketches preferred. Otherwise your sketch will get ever slower during modification of the sketch. Text is know to be slow. But 12 seconds seems excessive for the extrude. How many sketches are there? we see 52 just in this screen shot. you may conciser sub-dividing your part studios into… -
Proper way to indicate features on Sheet Metal (comaptible with Drawings)
Hi all, I'm trying to make a very simple part in Sheet Metal. This is basically a U-Shape part, with two slots on the vertical parts to slide something inside. The issue I have is that Sheet Metal behaves curiously: we are very limited in what we can do before we "Finish Sheet Metal", but then everything which is done after… -

Re: Blended Learning, Playlist for 3D printing
A Project I use is based on Iconic Products with an element of reverse engineering, before the design, model and 3D print. Students look at the Bic Pen, we discuss what makes an iconic product and look at pens that have copied the design. Students then record the dimensions of the pen barrel, cap, end cap and most…
