Re: Dimensions in Assemblies
There are many ways you could do this - the "correct" way can only be evaluated when you factor in your design intent... One way I would use involves 1. a Variable studio (e.g. put the length, width, number of cross members in as variables) 2. in a Part studio use these variables to drive a sketch... then use Frame… -
Can't figure out how to extend shape in this (logically simple) scenario...
Hi there, I have a (what I think simple) logical scenario where I'm trying to expand a shape, where I can't figure out how to do it. Sample example is here: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/08f14cb4110b775401e8137a/w/1cc8e5cb2b53526a106fa477/e/38ea09ba12e26c67663b9b3d What I'm trying to accomplish is make a model of an… -
how can i take the thickness value from the sheet metal
I've made a copy of "CalculateBounds.fs script" and I've got a script that sets the length and width, but I can't figure out how to get the thickness out of the sheet metal. I added function calculateFlatSMBounds to the end of the following code which sets the description field to sheet metal dimensions. function… -
Boat hull loft interections
This is truly driving me mad. I'm trying to make a solid wall boat hull. Just the stern for the moment. The lofting is driving me nuts. Here's where I'm at with the model. I've tried making the loft in multiple directions but keep running into issues with vertices aligning when lofting. I'm trying to make the wall solid,… -
Automated flow parametric model and exports
Hello. I am currently evaluating whether I can use Onshape for a specific business solution I am exploring. I want to ensure I'm not missing any potential capabilities. My requirements are as follows:* Create a parametric model in Onshape, such as a box, with variables for length, width, and height. * Update these… -
GERBER to ONSHAPE feature
I recently got into the world of PCB design. It’s going well, just had my first PCB made and it’s working great. I’m working on KiCAD, though that’s not really relevant to the issue I’m about to surface. I want to develop a FeatureScript that bridges the worlds of PCB design and 3D Modeling. Such features already exist… -
Re: help
not exactly, my issue is when sketching a drawing, I have multiple drawings that are identical shape wise but differ in width/height when i copy paste the sketch and try increasing/decreasing in height/length in x,y directions on a single segment all attached drawings off that vertex intersection either skew in size or… -
Re: Sweep around a path that is intersecting
@muchete The curve in the LOOK HERE sketch is too tight (small) for the sweep to work. This is part of the reason why you get the message that it intersects on itself when you try to do a sweep. So, I made a new sketch (Sketch 1) which is NOT as tight I also reduced the width of the base of the triangle that I used in the… -
Re: FS to create planes from Sketch inside the same FS
@kevin_o_toole_1 That's exactly what I'm looking for!! Thank you so much. The reason I wanted to use plans is to be able to call this FS while using other FS.... I wanted to create a door using Height/Width/Depth/DoorHandlePlacement My thought process is that this is basically married to the origin plane?? So I wanted to… -
Re: Forming Tools for Sheet Metal
This is what I came up with: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/9da6a5d6e4ce2ce60d83ddd5/w/970ad634ad96dad4d69c0622/e/df2eec05c0659f0b4f9e6801 Since I only need a line for a .dxf I made a cut very small in width (.0005"). This contour is small enough that when the .dxf was called into Sigma Nest it saw one single line. I…
