New FeatureScript: Cosmetic Threads

Hello Everyone,

I'm releasing my first FeatureScript!

Now you can create Cosmetic Threads in Part Studios:


These threads are two helix edges which were created with sweep and split commands. 

Features:

• Specify the pitch and the direction of the thread!
• Shows in Part-Studios, Assembly and Drawing Tab!
• Much faster than a real 3D thread!
• You can set a custom name for the thread (for example: "M12x1.75 - 6g")
• Change pitch, direction and thread name with configurations!

Some limitations:
Only works with cylinders and cones!
The ends of the selected surfaces have to be circles!

The trick is to use two helix surfaces to cut the cylinder:

@sebastian_glanzner I have created another version of the FeatureScript Cosmetic threads. 

I have not used the code you created, but I used the idea of the two helix to split the face.
Here is a video where you can see how it works and possibly get some ideas.

In the next version I will get the diameter of the edge or cylindrical face and offer the most appropriate threads to the feature name.

How do you set attributes in FeatureScript is there an easy example?
Does that mean that you can use the Hole Callout command in drawings?

Yes, that's the idea

Hi @nian_fuls641

We can not share that FeatureScript. Many of our FeatureScripts and libraries are exclusive to our Onshape customers.
I just can share that video so you can see how it works and possibly get some ideas, and give some feedback of a few improvements you can add to the original FS (or a new one, as I mentioned before I have not used the code of the Sebastian FS)
