"Don't do that!"

OK, I could probably figure this out given time but maybe asking would be easier.

I modeled a part, inserted it into an assembly then copied it so I have two identical parts.  I then edit one copy in context and those edits 'helpfully' appear in the other copy.  How can I stop it from doing that?

duplicate a part studio and replace the part you need to edit in context by one from the duplicated PS, then you may edit it freely
