If I don't want something shown I make display states or configurations. Many times I have small parts that are the size of washers that need to been shown.
Please make this option configurable on the user or company level or something.

The only thing your computer does locally is graphical (display the UI, render the model and orbit, listen for keyboard input and mouse input)
I admit, Onshape can be really slow at some tasks that desktop software seems to do instantly.
But you make up for that with multi-tasking, collaboration, versioning, NOT SAVING etc. which all save substantially more time in the long run.
Also being on the cloud means you don't have to wait for the parts to update. Just make the change and close the browser if you want. It keeps working whether your computer is on or not.
This really annoying if you are stuck waiting on something to load because next thing you need to do is on the part that is loading... I give you that!
But SolidWorks does that too, just not as often I guess.
It depends a lot on your model and your modeling strategy also. (Like any CAD) But Onshape appears to be more sensitive to that...
Most of the time everything seems to run snappy.
There are a few models I have seen where it can take many seconds to draw simple line in a new sketch.
But usually I submit those to support and they come back to life.
I would love to see more performance enhancements from Onshape, without question!
But I think of it like the tortoise and the hair... Onshape is the seemingly slower performer, but all of the fiddly mucking about you have to do with file management in other CAD is basically the equivalent of the hair taking a nap.
For example, if my feature sets an attribute called "someAttribute" with a length value, then another feature also sets an attribute called "someAttribute", but with an angle, that would then break my feature that expects the attribute to have a length value.
Apart from that, the OBJ export seems useful, and the 'where used' as well.
