Onshape not opening documents

I've just signed up this evening and don't seem to be able to open either public documents or a new document that I have tried to create. I keep getting the following message:
onshape not connected. Your document is saved. You can refresh the browser to continue working on this document or return to document page.
Nothing seems to work. This is using Safari on my Macbook.
I am able to open public documents on my iPad

I am not an expert on that but had the same issue at the beguining and a friend set it up for me and now works ok.5 -
