You can split a part with the plane of that open sketch, with an existing mate connector or create a mate connector directly

My quality of life has improved. Thank you.
Split is still buggy though with determining which of the 2 parts get's the original ID.
I want to now 'keep both parts', but also have the 'double arrow' button there to tell OS which one is the original, and which one the new part ID.
