You don't even need an open sketch.
You can split a part with the plane of that open sketch, with an existing mate connector or create a mate connector directly

Getting all the little details correct matters so much. From the changelog:

"Fixed an issue with not being able to RMB on Onshape logo while in a document"

The only reason I can think is to open in a new window, but middle mouse button does that, or ctrl+LMB

Nice improvements! Thank you Onshape Devs! The new custom computed part properties make me want to get deeper into Feature-Script. I wish there were more tutorials for dummies like me.

split with "Keep both sides" option is very nice. I like that I can now determine with an arrow button which one is kept.
Split is still buggy though with determining which of the 2 parts get's the original ID.
I want to now 'keep both parts', but also have the 'double arrow' button there to tell OS which one is the original, and which one the new part ID.
