Hi Neil, thanks a lot for the help.
I didn't import a csv file, and hopefully i can skip it all together. Partly because during design phase wiring tags have not been decided yet. Wire it in CAD and name them later would be ideal.
I have tried to select the "pin curves, faces, or edges" on different surfaces at the back of the connector, but couldn't, system will just deselect what i clicked.
Thanks @ken_xu for sharing your doc with me. For anyone else encountering this:
You need to always add a pin number to the wire ref definition. If you do this before selecting the part, the curve in the connector will get selected automatically. The reason it was deselecting the curve was because there was more curves selected than pin designations. The fix will be to make the pin entry mandatory, but for now, please add a pin number.
Man I can't wait to fork this Featurescript and reskin it as plumbing.
Yes @Derek_Van_Allen_BD please make this a reality😎, I worked at a Solidworks Reseller once and a plugin there for PI&D 3d "plumbing" is this: https://www.smap3d.com/en/cad-integrations/solidworks
But the usability is far from good, would be cool to see a useable Onshape Feature Script emerging in this field.

Added more wire colours and abbreviations:
@NeilCooke - I have a connector that has entry and exit on opposing sides. However when I define the terminals they are all in one single (same) direction, so the wire exits into the connector through itself. Is there a way of fixing this without splitting it into two connectors? P.s. inputs are wrong colours, just spotted!
Update: when you define the connector you can only choose the same direction for all pin outs. When you create a wire reference and you then pick the composite part connector, all the CSV wire references assume the same direction as the connector definition and it doesn't align as it should. In the case of above, you have to manually create the wires from the terminal faces and then it works. So there is no point defining the connector in this instance.
@NeilCooke - since the last recent wiring update, I cannot seem to route wires through clips or sketches anymore. It seems to generate an error. If you route a wire routed through a clip/channel - when you click to create cable if loses info about the clip routing as well.
Have you noticed this?
I haven’t but happy to investigate. Double- checking: it only uses the clip routing of the first wire and ignores the rest.
