Absolutely gutted that the CAM module will not be available for us hobbyists who do not use OnShape / CAD / CAM for a living.  (Looks like I will be stuck with Fusion360 for a while longer).

    :-(

Love the 2 options of CAD Studio and Advanced. There are so many CAM software loaded with advanced features and extremely expensive.
It's great to have a software with the right value for money for different users.

    Hi @joe_dunne
Any idea when this is happening? I believe it's almost a year after the announced estimated release date.

    Exciting:)

Hi! I wander if/when that CAM will be finally integrated to Onshape. Will it be available for education users?

    Great news :-)
    • What types of CNC machines do you use?
Wood machines. Therefore we would have to export the data in the .btl-file (https://www.design2machine.com/btl/index.html)
    Dus,

The industry standard for CAM output format is gcode.  For now, that this is the focus of CAM Studio.   I would suggest looking at how/if your equipment can support gcode?
It depends on which machines you talk about: https://www.hundegger.com/en-us/machines

Suffice to say our priority is to get this in our customers hands as soon as possible.
    Hi Joe,

I am a mechanical and software engineer working on Open Source hardware for experimental aviation. I am moving from additive to subtractive manufacturing, to get better surface finishes. I would love to try out OnShape CAM, and would be happy to provide feedback. Is there a way I can sign up?
