Organic forms making Onshape lag

I am modeling a series of organic forms for lighting fixtures. My workflow is to model these forms in blender or another organic sculpting program, and them import an .slt into onshape to add fitments and channels for wires, mold registrations etc - things that require real dimensions.
When I work with these forms in Onshape it lags to the point of being nearly unusable. Not sure what it is exactly about these forms - why do they lag when another model with many parts does not? Is it the complex mesh? Is it something with my gpu?
Any thoughts would be helpful, thanks!

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "lag" - is it document open, interaction (pan, zoom, rotate), editing feature? The answer depends on the operation being impacted.
