Uneven fillets on linear pattern ribs - how?

svdbsvdb Member Posts: 9
Hi,

Using a linear pattern I'm generating a variables + configurations based number of ribs (the part in the picture is the shortest version), and need to apply fillets to all, except to the outer faces (which constitute the edges of the part) of the very first and very last rib.
I couldn't find a way to suppress the fillets that fall outside the boundaries of the part (they prevent generating the first and last rib).
The first and last rib are flush with the profile of the part; they can't be offset inwards to make room for the fillets.
The first rib should only have a fillet on the right, and the last rib should only have a fillet on the left.

I'm thinking of changing the design to have the linear pattern only generate the inner ribs, and have the first and last ribs not generated but permanently placed by me (not sure how yet, since the length of the part is variable).
But ideally I'd like the linear pattern to handle the whole thing, and have a way to exclude the fillets that span outside the part.
Please let me know what you think is possible/best.

Many thanks.

The Selection Fillet custom feature from @Evan_Reese is also a good tool for things like this. You can pattern simple ribs and then add all the fillets for those ribs with one Selection Fillet.

You could split the part at its outer faces after creating the rib pattern to trim off excess fillets.

It doesn't want to generate the outer ribs because of the excess fillets, so that wouldn't work.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
