How to put a sketch on the face of a shell?

This is probably a simple thing but I'm just not seeing it…

If you create a square then extrude it down (not the default up) to a cube then shell it out to remove one side, all is easy peasy. Now try to place a sketch on the inner wall off the shell and the inner shell wall is not selectable because when you try to select it the original sketch gets selected even though it is invisible. I have found that you can peek through a screw hole on the bottom to get a wall and place a sketch but I don't have screw holes everywhere I might need it, is there any better solution? I am sure there is and I am just blind right now…

I suspect that all would be fine if I had extruded up but in my case the box is shaped and extruded to different levels and rebuilding it from the bottom up would be a challenge for sure - and I do enough already that I don't want to have to re-do things ;)

Just use the "Select other" option in the context menu while the mouse pointer is over the surface you wish to use for the sketch.
