Can't select edges with tool, only vertices

Fresh sketch in part studio, no matter the shape; rectangle, multiple lines, polygon, none of my tools can select edges. Even if I right click and use the custom selection, it only registers the edges if I then drag a box around all the edges I want, which surely is not the intended way of doing things, right? (Because I cant drag and select entities when using a tool either way)
Is there some setting I have accidentally toggled that's causing this?

Could you share the document, or at least a screenshot?
Your Operating System and Browser info would also be useful to know.

As per usual, it has suddenly started working (on fresh documents). Sorry for the wasted time

Everything works now, unclear as to what was causing it
OS: Ubuntu 25.04
Browser: Brave
I don't think Brave is officially recommended/supported - try the checker below and then maybe switch to Firefox.
