Derived different from original!

jeff_mcafferjeff_mcaffer Member Posts: 105 ✭✭✭

These two shots are section views of the same part. The first one is the original ("square light block" in this studio), the second is the exact same part Derived in another studio in the same document. How is that the "tunnel" path is different? I've not done any mods in the derived studio. How is this possible and how to I stop it? AFAICT there are no overlapping variables/config that should affect (if that's even a thing). Note that there are several other tunnels though this and other parts and they all have this problem.

Hmm, I don't see a way to delete this question, so I'll update with the appropriate emoji 🤡

It seems that I derived the default configuration of the part and the design is not resilient (I never use the default values) so the path is messed up.

    Never mind…

Also thanks for returning to post this the solution/root cause. The person who finds this in six months' time looking at the same problem will appreciate it.

What, you're not a fan of the time honored internet tradition of marking a request as resolved but refusing to elaborate?

@Derek_Van_Allen_BDI mean, I like it aesthetically: the cliffhanger ending, the "ah" without the "choo", Chekhov's gun languishing, forgotten on the wall. Creates tension on the paper. That's craft, man.
