how to create a spring

I am having trouble creating a spring and was wondering if anyone had a quick tutorial of how to make one.

@brian_kohr Just from the top of my head: 

Create a helix 
Create a "curve point plane" based on the endpoint of the helix.
Sketch circle on the plane you created.  Dimeter of circle would correlate to the wire diameter. 
Sweep using the circle and the helix as the path.  
Hide the body the helix is created from.  

Let me know if you need a more in-depth tutorial and Ill make one tonight.  Im sure others will chime in here as well.

I've looked at both of these examples.  Very simple.  Unfortunately, OnShape can't seem to select the correct path for the sweep.  So much easier in Solidworks... I like this tool but man this drives me crazy when the tool just wants to select all the things that will cause an error.  Is there a way to force it to only pick suitable entities?

@John_Howlett - I've designed several springs and have not had issues selecting the correct path for the sweep. I'm curious what part exactly is going wrong on your end.

how do you make one in another shape when you already have the shape

There is a feature script named "Spring Creator 1" that does a decent job of making springs. Sorry, but I couldn't figure out how to post a link, maybe you can search it, or others can make a link.
