Imported STEP shape is just surfaces.

I can't change the original STEP part so how do I convert 57 surfaces to one solid OnShape part?

You can try thickening all the surfaces in one shot and using boolean tools to get the required solid. Add a link to your model and we can play with it a bit.

I think the reason the STP file wouldn't import correctly is because of a degenerate condition. It was modeled with one of the large circular cuts tangent to a flat wall, creating a zero thickness wall. CAD doesn't like that. I fixed this in SW by slightly reducing the diameter of the cut from 242mm to 241.8mm.

I have similar issue with importing file into onshape. I Would like to import my part and make some changes, but unfortunately it doesn't work. Could you please look into it:

I have added all formats that I have, but still I got 100 surfaces on one sold part.

@dare_trivi your part imported as a solid, telling us that the original file (in whatever format) was tessellated, most likely originating from an STL file. You will struggle to modify this because there are no clearly defined faces. Do you have it in an original BREP format, like the original model from SolidWorks?

@dare_trivi - if the original model is not tessellated, it will import into Onshape. Just check with your friend that he has a real (not STL) model.
