sketch fillet bug

123_456660123_456660 Member Posts: 31 EDU
the default sketch fillet radius is 5. If you try to fillet something very small, It tries to start with the fillet at the 5mm default, but it cannot, and it cancels the fillet, giving the error: The current fillet radius produces invalid geometry. Since it exits out of the fillet tool before you can even change the radius from the 5mm default, It prevents you from making any fillet at all on a small sketch.

oh. This is still a lot of work. it should automatically shrink the radius if it would create unvalud geometry. I wouldn't have know the click-drag thing unless i posted on the forum. Not very straghtforward to the average user.

If you're using a computer it can be done by clicking and dragging the vertex and if you hover the mouse over the fillet tool it displays instructions to that effect. Clicking and dragging, however, isn't really an option on the app and as stated, it's not a terribly intuitive way of handling the issue. There should be a pop-up window or something to allow users to input the radius size before selecting the elements to apply the fillets to.

The current fillet workflow does leave something to be desired. If you'd like us to work on it, please submit an improvement request. We use them to prioritize changes.

The fix we'd probably use for this issue is to make fillet more consistent with other sketch tools that have preview states, so if the fillet radius is too large, there would be a red preview giving an indication of why it won't fit along with an edit box to try additional values.
