Why don't mate connectors move with transforms?

I'm attempting to build a multi-part studio with some derived parts. But when I try to move them around and connect a new part to one that I previously moved, the mate connector of the previously moved one did not move along with the part itself. This leads to a bunch of dangling mate connectors just sort of hanging out near the center. Is that the intended behavior? And if so, could someone explain why?

Long and short of it is that if you want your mate connectors to move with the transformation, you can add them as an additional selection into "Entities to transform or copy".Jake Rosenfeld - Modeling Team5

As of now, yes, there is no way to lock the mate connectors to the part. You must manually select them into the transform operation.
