adding you guys too. we have discussed this here but i wanted to cast a wider net in this thread as well.0 -
@dave_cowden
Hi, have no any experience with GitHub. I'm not a pro in programming at all. Do you mean i'll be able to edit start page of your repository and add links by myself or something like that? In a few days i'll prepare a number of scripts with pctures. But they are still not properly documented.

@here all of the features I could find are now listed here
@konstantin_shiriazdanov yes, you've got it. Have a look at this link, and you can see i've listed all of the features I could find that you've shared. As a collaborator on this project, you'd be able to add/modify things yourself.
My idea is to create an open registry of features. Right now its just a list, but i could imagine adding images and/or tags. What i'm building towards is a proper 'store' where you can sort/search/filter/vote, etc.

@dave_cowden at a quick glance I didn't see these on the list.

@brucebartlett thanks! I added those. I hadnt seen Breakoff tabs before!
I'm interested in your opinion of whether images and authors are useful in the feature list or not. It makes the page a lot more cluttered to add them, but OTOH for some of these a pictures is worth 1000 words in describing what the feature does....0 -
-
@brucebartlett thanks for the feedback. I'll play with the layout and see if i can do somethings not too overwhelming. its kind of a challenge to render pictures big enough to help, but small enough you dont have to scroll 400 pages to see all the features. There are almost 90 at the moment.

@dave_cowden
With my feature, Fillet/Chamfer Feature Library, it is actually a feature that uses all my other features in it.
Could the description be changed appropriately, please?
EDIT: I submitted a pull request.
My name on Github is morganb21
Could you add me as a collaborator0 -
@mbartlett21 sure! added you as a collaborator. I'm handling a couple of other PRs today, i'd be happy to accept one that has your features listed how you'd like it. That's probably easier than my doing it.

Hi @dave_cowden
I didn't see @ilya_baran 's Ortho Lines on the list:
https://cad.onshape.com/documents/5a344daad1ec87e14cdb6dc6/v/1e3cdf77f2c028b1f6d2605a/e/d6044307bd7c5a3a3121deb5
https://forum.onshape.com/discussion/7394/3d-sketch-custom-feature
It's pretty useful and also an interesting example of how array parameters and manipulators can be used together for a good user experience.
I'll post more if I think of them

thanks @Jake_Rosenfeld
I'll be happy to add these, but would you like to be a collaborator on the github project? then you could add them when you come across them. If you've got a github account i'll be happy to add you to the project. There really aren't many folks active in the FS community, and ideally everyone active is a collaborator on the project. We'll all be best off that way

oh and @ilya_baran of course i'd be happy to add you as a collaborator as well if that interests you.i0

Sounds good Dave, I will DM you my email address.Jake Rosenfeld - Modeling Team0

ok I've added that one, thanks for the tip!0 -

Radial Pattern - circular pattern with option for radial second direction

The link doesn't work. :-(0 -
It's been a while, but I think it got renamed to Circular Pattern. Looks like Dave took it down.
@dave_cowden, there is also my Linear Pattern FS. It adds the ability to select seed location.

@mahir I'll add it back.. the link was broken before and I had other contributors wanting to remove broken links.
@here I'm loving the support for this list! I've gotten lots of contributions and help editing. I'm very pleased we will up with a resource that's much better than I could ever do alone.
Please keepadding issues and suggestions, on the githGub repo.. I'm working hard to keep up!
Most of them are very fast to handle. The only one that will take a bit is a suggestion to add images, authors, and company names. If you are interested in weighing in the discussion is at https://github.com/dcowden/featurescript/pull/90 -
@dave_cowden, nothing to fix. I think Circular Pattern is still there. You took down the broken Radial Pattern link. But you can add the Linear Pattern link, although there's already another Linear Pattern on the list that does something different ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.0
-
@mahir, added Linear Pattern with seed location.0
-
@mahir
That linear pattern is by me.
It adds a third direction.
In the example document, I created a Rubiks cube.

Ha! Thanks guys for all the contributions to the list!
It looks like it's mostly stable now. When I have time next, I am going to work on a Jekyl layout that will allow rendering author name, website, and a picture, plus if we are lucky, tags. Using Jekyl will make it easy to community maintain in GitHub, but present much better.0 -
@dave_cowden
I have made a FeatureScript that is almost fully developed: Sheet Metal Hem.
I have added it to the list.
At the moment, it is about 0.01mm out with the height and whatever, as you can't have a zero-length line.0 -

@mbartlett21 if they are distinct features, I've been trying to change the description to include a bit about how they differ. When I get to it the author will differentiate them a bit but what users will really want is a rating so they can choose the best of the two.
I definitely do not want to get into filtering at this point. We may eventually do that but in this phase I think everything goes on if the author has requested it, either directly or implied by sharing the feature in the forum0 -
Graphic dependency FS - allows to define dependency between a pair of variables by means of sketched law curve.
Could be used independently or in complex with scripts like Curve generator, Tracer, Parameter pattern and other features which consume a number of user-defined variables with nonlinear dependency. The feature requares argument of length type and returns the value of length type as well.

For example using this FS in pair with Curve generator allows to create a flat cam profile with eccentric rod or oscilating lever without any additional coding.

@konstantin_shiriazdanov
cool! does it go in the analysis section?0 -
@dave_cowden
Yes, it would be the most suiting category, but some tags or cross-links in the future must say to the user how the FS can interact with each other, because sometimes we getting the whole stack of scripts which could be combined.

If anyone is looking for an FS project, I'd love a corner overcut on the sheet metal tab feature. I have got used to the beautifully integrated corners on the laser joint FS but miss them is sheetmetal.

Just wrote this Round Emboss FS. It's an update to @NeilCooke's Embossed Foot FS that supports non-planar surfaces and variable draft angle.
