Getting more and more comfortable
I’m a retired EE, and have a lot of time on my hands now for home projects. I’ve been using SketchUp, but always wanted to be able to design on my iPad. No clue why I didn’t discover OnShape sooner, but I’m about a month in now, and I’m becoming more and more comfortable with it. I must admit, it’s a much more professional… -
3D Spline with tangency and weighting control
Ok, i am an aeronautical engineer by training and i really wanted 3D splines for lofting wing, propellor and parachute shapes. Here is a custom feature that does a lot of what i was looking for. The original work was done by Mark Barr and the tangency capability was added by Ilya Baran after i promised to leave him alone… -
UI Request: Non-overlapping "FeatureScript notices" and "Search for"
Would it be possible for the FeatureScript notices flyout and "Search for" dialog (activated via command/control-F) to not overlap? It seems like the "Search for" dialog is a fixed size, while the FeatureScript notices flyout height varies on how many errors or warnings currently exist. Maybe the "Search for" dialog could… -

Split and circular pattern - creating fresh parts instead of adding to existing ones

I want to print it on a 20cm square 3d printer, so I needed to split it into pieces, and make… -
Re: Move Face Translation Using Vector Addition
When I wrote this, I was working from a derived part and moving faces around. I think it makes sense do define my moves by breaking them into orthogonal components. I ended up with 14 move face features and was thinking it took up a lot of space and made my feature tree confusing. An alternative method that would also be… -
Re: Another feature script ID error...
Ok, you have a slightly complicated flow structure, so assigning operation ids needs to be done carefully. The first problem is actually in line 321, where the id should be id + "SparPlanes" + i rather than id + i + "SparPlanes" -- this is backwards from the usual advice of id + index + operation, but in your case, you… -
Re: Sweep with orientation control
@brad_phelani in Variable section sweep i personally use a profile per each 1 mm of the length of the path, without any guides. but it can be not very efficient. i think more advanced path partition for profile placement may be based on path curvature - the bigger the curvature the more profiles requared for a certain path… -
Re: SVD
ok looking back over the documentation it appears that I do have unit normal that I'm after, so now the question is could I have used svd? in the documentation, svd (m is Matrix) returns map Compute the singular value decomposition of a matrix, i.e. s, u, and v, where m == u * s * v and s is a diagonal matrix of singular… -
Re: Forget the Parametry
I think, @3dcad, despite what a dictionary might suggest, your use of "furniture" applies to things most native English speakers would not think of as furniture, but as cabinetry or fitout or joinery or some other term. Usually most of us reserve "furniture" for chairs, sofas, couches, and other not always upholstered but…
