Re: Variables and Equations based Parametric Modeling Vs. FeatureScript
OK, it's true that Onshape requires variables to be solved in the correct order. Perhaps you could spend the extra hour ordering them correclty  Joking aside, another option would be to build just the equations in FeatureScript (so you have a full programming language to do whatever calcs you need, but they will… -
configuration variables vs variable studio.
hope this is the right place for feedback on functionality of OS? The situation: If there is a configuration variable with the same name as a variable in the variable studio, the studio varable will get overwriten by the configuration variable (to me, in assembly variables, this is DESIRED behaviour) other studio variables… -
How can i rotate this airfoil using a variable

Re: Why Doesn't my Variable Studio work in this document assembly and part studio??
(Before you deleted the Variable Studio) the Part Studio had its own local variables that were overriding the ones imported from the Variable Studio. Delete the variable features. For reference, if you look at an overridden variable in the variable table, you'll see an info icon that points this out. -
BUG: parameters not applied to sketch after "use" AND "transform"
steps: 1. draw a sketch on Plane 1 2. "use" it onto a sketch on Plane 2 3. "transform" the new ("used") sketch (move or rotate) 4. modify the Plane 1 sketch EXPECTED: the Plane 2 sketch reflects the changes to Plane 1 sketch ACTUAL: plane 2 sketch is unchanged. ------------------ note: if you skip step "3", above, the… -
text output that can include variables?
I want to have a public document that can be accessed by the link without a login that allows people to set parameters and shows the results I can do this with configuration variables and sharing permissions to affect the sketches and resulting parts. What I have not found a good way to do is to show the results of… -
Can a variable in a Part Studio be used in an Assembly?
The documentation page for Variable Table (Part Studio) says: A Variable table is created in a document and the variables therein are immediately available for use in all Part Studios and Assemblies in that document workspace. But the only way I've found to use variables in an assembly is to use a Variable Studio. It does… -
bug in using variables for parts studio linear pattern
If you use a variable for a distance when doing a linear pattern in a sketch, it looks like it works (the right value shows up after hitting enter), but it's not saving the reference to the variable, instead it's just putting in the current value of the variable. If you change the variable, the pattern does not rearrange… -
Re: Creating relations between dimensions
Hi gustavo, this can be done using variables: Create a variable named 'd1' (it'll appear in the feature tree) In a feature or sketch, you can type a formula. type "#" and you'll see a list of parameters you've created (you can even create one there and then). when you type in a sketch for a dimension "#d1 + 3" it won't… -
Limitations to Variable Studio Importing
This is one of those "is this a bug" questions. When insert a variable studio that's not in a folder that's an ancestor of the part studio I'm including it from, the variable don't work. The variable table shows up in the list just fine, but when I try to use a variable from the table it doesn't show up in the auto…
