Can you reference one dimension in a sketch when entering the value for another dimension?
Say I have a simple rectangle. I always want its height to be .4 times its width. Can I do this directly in a sketch? I am particularly looking at situations where I don't explicitly know what the width of the rectangle will be since it is generated by referencing other geometry when it is constructed. This is kind of like… -
Re: What is the best way to offset vectors depending if they're positive or negative?
Ok, let's forget about featureScript for a moment. I'm using the user's interface. -I've created sketch 10 -I have no idea what horizontal and vertical are, but who cares -I've worldtosketch these points so now they're in sketch10 coordinate So you know -vector p2-p1 You also know -vector p3-p1 These are the same vector… -

Re: how would you remove the circle parts from the plate?
Here’s one more of numerous ways to do it. https://cad.onshape.com/documents/d34a9bfae80d76f095a627b5/w/70d075a257e3f029430dc746/e/4a03404d25009b6b0e095c52 It’s more involved. Maybe way overkill for what you want. But it allows you to adjust things easily, in that all that needs to be adjusted is the numeric value of one… -
Re: Sheet Metal Jog
@glen_dewsbury, thanks for the response. Extruding the jog profile to create sheet metal looks like a viable approach, particularly for cases where the jog extends across the full width of the part. Any ideas for more general cases, for jogging one, or more, tabs of lesser width? I would like to see a parametric "jog… -
Re: Is there a way to sweep an object through space while performing a boolean?
@Konst_Sh, thanks for your input on how to make a variant, I'll look into it. It's neat how you approached the problem, but I think it's similar to how I approached it. (I built a cone, used a helix on the cone surface, and then projected the helix onto 2D, which you did much more simply with the curve generator!) In both… -
Re: How to collect multiple measurements of 2D figures from a 3D part
@_anton @mahir thank you guys for the help! As I was looking through the documents you sent I stumbled upon the custom table feature, looked under the sample tables and found one called 'part bounds table' which gave me the length and widths of all the parts (slices) in a table which I can copy to excel! It doesn't give me… -
Re: 3D and 2D points not matching
Not sure I follow this logic - surely centrePoint1[0] is never going to equal vertexPoint[0] from the graphic above? If I comment out this code it looks good? Where should it be offsetting from? vertexPoint or centrePoint? if (tolerantEquals(centrePoint1[0], vertexPoint[0])) { if (centrePoint1[1] - vertexPoint[1] < 0) { h… -

Not exactly fish tacos on the beach.... but here is where I've been this week... about 90-95 hot, dry, and dusty. <iframe src="https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=D0293784DEF7BECC&resid=D0293784DEF7BECC%2169048&authkey=AAo1N1Ld7rim0vg" width="180" height="320" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe…
