I have a number of solidworks projects that I am trying to convert to OnShape.

The object comes in but I can't measure it or edit it. Am I doing this wrong? Is the part not editable? Also, I do not have access to Solidworks any longer so I can't "Pack and Go" my assemblies. How do I go about zipping the part files and assembly files so I can import the entire assembly with parts?

    Imported parts should be editable, but only as a solid blob. You can add and remove volume using new features, but you can't edit existing features other than through direct editing (move face, scale, etc).

    You should be able to recreate pack and go by manually zipping all files. I'll assume you're using windows since you're a former SW user.
    1. Put assembly, subassemblies, and parts all in the same folder
    2. Select all these files
    3. Right click
    4. Select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder
    5. Pick a location and file name.

    If all goes well, you should be able to import the resulting zip in OS.

    @mahir forgot to mention:
    When Zipping, make sure the Zip file name matches the main assembly name

    As for measure, give OnShape a few minutes. Sometimes the measurement tool won't function for a little while, because it is still calculating the model in the background. After a few seconds in a tab up to about a minute sometimes (depending on the complexity), you should regain the ability to measure.

    Great tip on assembling files into a zip file when you have the files but no SolidWorks...I was thinking there was something special about the pack and go zip file and you needed SolidWorks to create it but sound like if you can remember the structure and drop all the files in the zip with the same name as the top level assy it will do the job.

    This is how you have to do it with Creo assemblies. Zip them up and rename the zip file the same as the assembly (without any version number extension).
