It's Thursday and we have a release chock full of goodies. This release contains a wide variety of features and improvements to usability, Configurations, Drawings, Render Studio, and more. Let's dive right in!

CAD IMPROVEMENTS

EDIT SKETCH PATTERN

In sketch patterns, such as linear and circular patterns, you can now add and remove instances and sketch entities after initial creation.

CONFIGURATION VISIBILITY CONDITIONS

New options rules are available to dial in which values should be present based on other inputs. Human readable parameters now show when values are collapsed. A new undo/redo function is at the bottom of the screen and the right-side preview provides greater clarity now that the panel shows "hidden values" by default.

FRAMES AND FORMS LIBRARY SEARCH FILTER

When inserting Frame elements or Sheet metal Forms from your library, you can search by name, size and configuration, rather than scrolling through dropdown lists.

CURVE DEVIATION

Onshape introduces the Curve deviation tool, designed to streamline the process of checking curve alignments. Accessible via the Analysis tools in a Part studio, it provides instant feedback on minimum and maximum deviations.

HIDE OR SHOW BEFORE SETTING ASSEMBLY CONTEXT

It is now possible to hide or show components before setting the initial context for your Part studio for in-context design.

https://onshape.wistia.com/medias/xq1jmwbo85

VARIABLE STUDIOS

As with configurations from the last update, you can easily reorder values and Variable Studios in the Variables panel as well as collapse and expand all.

WORKSPACE UNITS

Mixing different unit systems in your Workspace is now possible.

https://onshape.wistia.com/medias/4wcpv4d929

MATERIAL UNITS

Mixing unit systems for material libraries allows for preferred units and simplifies the import and export of custom material libraries.

https://onshape.wistia.com/medias/ktd9nq4uxu

EXPORT INNER LOOPS FOR FLATTENED SURFACES

Surface flattening has been enhanced to support inner edges during the export process.

https://onshape.wistia.com/medias/c2u2tjf8m6

DRAWINGS IMPROVEMENTS

NEGATIVE DIMENSION VALUES

Change the value of a sketch dimension relation to a negative value.

https://onshape.wistia.com/medias/dwi3wzr5at

COPY AND PASTE TABLE DATA

You may now copy and paste individual cell and table data in many ways; both internal to an Onshape drawing, or external to a spreadsheet or text editing application.

https://onshape.wistia.com/medias/m7w66x0oro

LOCKED HEADER ROW FOR INSPECTION TABLE

The top row of the Inspection list is fixed in place for better readability when viewing long inspection lists.

https://onshape.wistia.com/medias/ou6rxxbblp

DATA MANAGEMENT IMPROVEMENTS

LIST VIEW COLUMN SORTING AND PART HIGHLIGHT

Improved sorting options by Part number, Revision, and State in List view. Additionally, when opening from List view, Structure view or search results, individual components appear in Isolate mode within a multi-part studio.

https://onshape.wistia.com/medias/m2r8t2gsff

ASSIGN A TASK TO MULTIPLE USERS

Multiple users can be assigned to a single task, allowing one to complete that task.

https://onshape.wistia.com/medias/ovl3ju29ak

DOCUMENT RECOVERY

In the rare situation that a document needs recovery, the rich Onshape history is at your disposal, with new automatic options that appear if Onshape detects a slowdown that recovery can benefit.

https://onshape.wistia.com/medias/qpsjxrqvhh

RENDER STUDIO IMPROVEMENTS

FOLDER IMPROVEMENTS

Folder names are included in the Search filter, and Folders with their contents, can be suppressed or used for other operations.

https://onshape.wistia.com/medias/ml3asm4cu9

CUSTOMER SUPPORT IMPROVEMENTS

CONTACT SUPPORT

The Contact Support tool has been redesigned to support selective capture and also includes an expandable text area for more descriptive details. It also supports external markups and attachments in addition to the internal markup toolset.

Ah mixed unit systems. One step closer to properly documenting my 1/4"-20 x 20mm threaded inserts the way the manufacturer intended with units defined arbitrarily on a per-dimension basis.

A happy surprise to the day! Pumped for the configuration additions.

👍️Thank you for the comprehensive update, full of great new improvements.

Onshape is too complicated, I quit. Just Kidding! Nice round of updates, and still some unpacking to do. Configuration option and copy paste drawing table to spreadsheet are 2 big hitters to me.

It would be nice to be able to grab a deviation measurement along any point of the geometry, not just min and max. Here I'd like to measure at the point circled in red the maximum deviation. Of course I could trim my curve but that would require extra features and not possible from a version.

Lots of quality improvements here. I appreciate each of these, particularly the Frame Library, Variable studio, and Render studio improvements.
    Thanks Onshape Team! 🎉

This is an awesome release! Love the attention to configs for making really thorough setups. Curve deviation is interesting, but I'm curious which scenarios Onshape expects it to get the most use. The sketch pattern update is great. I've had to either stack patterns or recreate them many times.

Now to do my tri-weekly scheduled snooping through featurescript fragments and see if I can't brute force preview future functionality. I already see some things for query variables that I know @MichaelPascoe is gonna be interested in.

Lots of great quality of life improvements here - editing sketch patterns, config visibility power, reordering variables, etc..

One thing I will request again - PLEASE add the date that a revision was released to the columns in the list or structure view, and PLEASE make it so that the results can go recursively down a folder structure. As it is right now, these views are almost useless if we keep parts and assembly documents in folders within a project. I want to see an overview of released things for a project. We're manually collecting this information in a publication now. Not being able to sort by date seems so fundamental.

Hype! This is some really exciting stuff

Density seems to have defaulted to pounds per cubic inch, even for those of us that have set everything else to metric.

Is there any way to batch-update documents to use kilograms per cubic meter? We have the /api/documents/d/{}/{wvm}/{}/unitinfo to get the units, but nothing to update them.

nice update, the edit sketch pattern is awesome. But I have an issue, we have discovered all our older documents units have change and gone to imperial! NOT GOOD. Has anyone else have this issue?

Love the pattern update, me too has had instances where I had to redo them because afterwards I realised it was too many or not enough. Great stuff this.

I was thinking for a short time that maybe mixed units should be possible accross one item, length for instance, but even though I know of machines that mix these in real life, it is a ridiculous notion so perhaps better not request inches and mm posibility in one sketch 😶

Amazing updates! My only complaint is that the sound volume of the videos keeps changing… 😁

OOOW, I also wanted to say that bit I forgot 😂🤣

Yep, same for us. Not looking forward to having to manually reset everything!

I found that in many of my export settings to export a dwg or wxf, the preset unit in the export changed to meters opposed to the mm that it was before. This means the exported files are a factor 1000 smaller. Not sure if it has to do with this update but the last few days I have had this happen.

The most annoying thing is that I can set it back to mm but it only stays to mm in that session for that document. I open another document and the setting is back to meters.

    EDIT!

It now seems to stay on mm, lets hope this will remain the case.
