Fix/Lock Drawing

  • Fix/Lock Drawing - The ability to fix or lock the views, notes, and dimensions location on a drawing.
Example: When working on a large drawing it is easy to accidentally move things around. Once they are how you like them, right click the selection you have made and click fix/lock.

@cache_river_millworks This is not something we plan on doing anytime soon.  This is a behavioral change and would require another layer of security to allow you to toggle edit/view only access to that drawing.

I understood the request to be a little different than toggling edit/view for the entire drawing. Something more like the 'fix' / 'unfix' assignment in an assembly, but for drawing annotations or drawings themselves. It would be a big usability improvement if it were a context menu option to just lock the position (not the ability to edit) individual elements in drawings.

If you move notes and line to Border frame layer and have the format set to Locked it does what you are requesting. There is just no way at the moment to add views and related dim's. If it was possible to add views, etc this may partially do what you are asking for.

Occasionally, we accidentally move a line, boarder, or view when we were meaning to pan around. I'm not sure how this would work behind the scenes, but it would be nice to know that I haven't accidentally messed up a drawing.

You can lock your borders, title block and any text or lines not connected to views with the method as shown ^^.  You can not use this method to lock views or notes/dims related to views.
