Conic fillet advantage and working principle

viruviru Member, Developers Posts: 619 ✭✭✭✭
Onshape introduces a " conic fillet " capability in fillet which is useful in making complex shapes. The Conic fillet function lets us control the shape and size of each fillet to create smoother, more beautiful blends and fillets. This gives user to more choices and control over the look of your parts, including control of curvature. As a result, user can create smoother transitions between adjacent faces.
Conic fillet controlled by Rho value.User can give Rho value from 0 to 0.9999 for getting different types of conic curvature as shown in below image.

User can get Rho line by drawing perpendicular line on center of the line made of horizontal and vertical point of fillet distance. Rho line divide in 10 equal half for seeing working principle as shown in below image.
Working principle are in below video,

Now with the help of above information user can choose conic fillet option in fillet frequently.

With warm regards,
Viru

    Viru
Thanks a lot for a beautiful exposition
I guess it follows from fundamental trig that (at least when filleting a 90deg corner) the rho value corresponding to a circular arc will be one less than the square root of 2?
    ie  0.414ish ?
