Keeping student assignment files organized
Hi everyone, I’m trying to find a simple way to keep student assignment files organized when using Onshape Classes. Sometimes students create or copy documents in the wrong folder, and then it becomes confusing to know which file is the actual assignment. How do other educators organize student documents so that students…
Can I track my students' progress in the learning center?
I'd like for my high school engineering students to work on various lessons within the Onshape learning center — and I would like to be able to view their progress. Is there a dashboard of some sort where I can see what lessons they have completed? I can already view my students/classes within the CAD section of Onshape…
My Education plan has just expired and I can't find out how to renew it.
My Onshape Education subscription has expired and I have been downgraded to a Free subscription. I have received the email informing me on how to renew it. However, when I go to the https://www.onshape.com/en/education/ website and sign up, it says that my email has already been registered. If I try to sign-in, it…
Grouping Sketches
I have a student who has built 3 sketches that he wants to group, in case he wants to move all the sketches around in the document. How do we do this? Thanks!
Where to Start Students
Hi. I teach high school CAD. I am going to be focusing on using the design thinking process for designing products. Do you have any recommendations on how to start having my students learn Onshape? We are using the enterprise education edition. The only experience that most of my students have with CAD app/software is…
Does anyone have a copy of the old tutorial videos?
I have been using the Tutorials to get my students started for several years now. A couple of months ago, it was brought to my attention that they are not working properly. I have reached out to Onshape Support, and they have done some looking, but as the video tutorials are several years old, they haven't had any luck…
Alternative method of creating the Gyrosphere Tutorial for High School Students and below
I ran into a problem using the tutorial provided by OnShape for the Gyrosphere. In particular, the Shell tool didn't seem to work on a sphere. As a workaround, I created a half-sphere and Shelled it. I then Mirrored the hollow hemisphere and continued the tutorial from that point on. I have found several other tools that…
Class organization and student progress with Learning Pathways
Hello folks at Onshape, I'm a technology instructor at the high school level. I'm glad to see the new learning pathways. I have a student doing the CAD Basics Learning Pathway. I want to see student progress (on any project - in pathways or not) without needing to be a collaborator. I would like to view them as a teacher.…

Looking at Students' progress in Intro to CAD pathway
Hello, I'm a HS teacher with an Educational Plan. I asked my students to sign up for one as well, and start on the Intro to CAD course. Is there a way for me to see their progress through it, other than asking them to share screenshots?

Estes Rocket Challenge
This project has students use OnShape to design model rockets. We 3D print completed rockets and launch them. I have students to their initial rocket designs using OpenRocket. This free software is easy to use and helps students make aerodynamically stable rockets. I have students work alone if we have small class sizes.…
Cube Puzzle Project
This is a classic CAD and woodworking project. It is the first project I have my students do. We begin the project by having students build cube puzzles using 1g interlocking cube blocks. These can be found online from many science supply or general retailers. I have students then design each part in OnShape. I show the…
100 mm Cube with 40 mm Hole
This is the second project I have my students do. The goal is to make a part that matches the drawing. Students submit a PDF of their drawing file and share their design with me when done. The drawing should be dimensioned to match the model provided. At this point students have seen the Extrude tool, but they have not…
