access control of students data
Quote from "An Introduction to Agile Product Design – by Onshape" document: Can we add a "Student" role so that we, educators, can use this feature for real-time control and grading of student activities? Or is there such an existing feature that can be utilized for this purpose? Fethi

Twisting a flat bar
Is there a way to twist a flat bar part by 90°? This is what I would like to get: Since I don't know how to do that, I have tried by making two separate parts in perpendicular planes, and then using loft to connect them. But the loft is not good, it is not a smooth bend. This is what I get: Any ideas on how to do that…

Onshape and Raspberry Pi 4?
I am thinking of purchasing a Raspberry Pi 4 to use as an inexpensive computer for tinkering, web browsing, etc. Can you access Onshape from a Pi 4? (web or app) Does it work well enough for basic Part Studio design work? I would appreciate any advice or setup/configuration tips. Thanks in advance. Pat.

Is it possible to use design an element or structure with Onshape?
I need to back up some ideas with calculations in order to prove validity ( and relieve a few decision makers of liability). Onshape has so many powerful features, this seems like a natural fit. Thank you, Ken Harris

Mate connector for slider mate for tube roller on configurable diameter tube
I've been scratching my head over this for a bit now, so I thought I'd ask about a particularly weird case for defining a mate connector. Here is the part I'm importing: https://www.servocity.com/0-250-acetyl-press-fit-tube-roller. Here is an image of a similar part (with built-in ball bearings) as an example of how the…

Wire moves relative to part sliding
I am trying to design a telescoping boom of a mobile crane, where the boom extension is controlled by a wire and I would like to simulate the telescope behavior of all participating parts in relationship to the movement. I can simulate the telescope behaviour of the two components with the slide mate connector and a linear…

Radiused corners black out on drawing in elevation - how to fix?
I have a design of a raspberrypi case in which the vertical corners are rounded 4mm. This rounding is indicated by vertical lines spaced around the "round" in the isometric and in the elevations. Is there some way to either reduce the number of lines or just show the tangent?

Assembly Animation Pen, and ease of use request
When designing moving parts, such as linkages, it would be convenient to place pens at connecting joints to see the joint's motion. Does OnShape have this capability? I do have a linkage and gear modeling tool, found on the internet, that has the pen feature which came in very handy. Linkage Mechanism Designer and…

Animated Assembly, Part Interference, and basic new user questions
Document In the above document assembly is a linkage design. It animates fine but I have a few questions. 1. In the design are two short arms, Pivot Arms. These arms cannot drop below the axis points. Yet if one spins the large gear by hand or grabs another of the arms to animate sometimes the small arms drop below the…

Flat-Head Screw Hole
How do I place Flat-Head Screw Holes on a curved surface? I need to specify the location so that they align with the mating part. I have included a simple sketch and would like to add the holes on the inside of the part so the screws point outward.…

Helix+Swept Cut and a Curve
I have a swept cable (circle) of constant diameter that runs along a path composed of sketch lines and fillets in an S shape. This is an armored cable and my client wants the helix cut armoring to be represented. My question is: Can I run a helix along this curving path to perform a thread-like cut along the cable? Does…

Need help how to model this part
Hello all, I have to redraw this old model of a shifter boot for a new manufacturing process and I just can figure out how it was modeled before and how to begin to model it new. https://cad.onshape.com/documents/9264a7446ebc32f0a3f486ca/w/611841cb3bcefcddf7732348/e/75ae4918184800288fca15d4 The goal is to match the inner…

How to calculate distance across a surface?
My goal is to write a script to add a hexagonal pattern of hexagonal tiles across a series of adjacent surfaces. However, I'm new to Featurescript so at an early stage. Where I'm stuck at the moment is trying to convert from real-world distances to the "2d unitless parameter-space" used as parameters…

Breaking up large document
I am trying to break up a large document into two smaller ones for performance reasons. (Public document: "Electric Glider Winch Prototype) There are two large sub-assemblies where a logical break could occur. I have attempted this two ways - moving a sub-assembly and moving a drawing of the sub-assembly to a new document.…
