Can I export sub-assemblies defined relative to the origin of the main assembly?
I have a big assembly composed of parts and sub assemblies. I'm trying to create an SDF robot description file from this assembly, and so I'd like to export all the sub-assemblies as STL's and calculate their inertial properties. The problem is that I need the exported STL's to be defined relative to the main assembly…

Errornous Geometry in Exports
Hey, I'm trying to export this part for 3d-printing: When exporting as stl (I tried different solutions and custom values in export settings) the top surface in the middle is missing: When exporting as step file there is a problem with the outer surface: Any ideas what could cause these issues (and how to fix it)?

Imprint and merge conformal surfaces during STL export
I'm trying to export all parts from a PartStudio as STLs such that shared boundaries between two parts share the same node positions—a so-called conformal mesh. Is this possible using Onshape STL export? Selecting Export unique parts as individual files seems to produce non-conformal meshes. Thanks

Exporting Part As STL Results In Missing Walls Of Part
Hi all, I haven't come across this before and it's got me stumped! I've created a drinks bottle holder for my TT bike. I made one half in OnShape and then the final step was to mirror it and boolean. When I export as an STL (mm, binary, fine), the original half looks like it has a wall missing when I preview the file or…

Weird infill when exporting to Cura
Howdy. I've got a part: That's showing up in Cura like this: That yellow is infill, not support. I think Cura sees some kind of surface at the top of the part. Wall and top/bottom thickness is .8mm and there's 2 walls and 3 top/bottoms. I think this plane may be to blame but it could be any of the other elements…

Exporting multiple configurations to STL
I'm wondering if there is some way within Onshape to download the STL for multiple configurations of a part in a single zip file, rather than doing it one by one? Or is this best done using the REST API?

Export STL of Assembley with all parts in context
Hello, I have a large assembly that uses many unique and standard parts. I would like to export the assembly as an STL with individual parts. I would like it that when I open the parts in another software like Blender that all the parts open where they should in the exact same place as in the assembly. Currently, all the…

Voids of unknown origin
Considering what a friendly welcome I was given the first time I posed a question about modeling a part, I thought I'd throw out another challenge to the skilled and helpful individuals who monitor this community. I completed my model (which those who helped may with my extruded logo path may remember), which is part that…

STL Export Scaling Problem
I have used Onshape for a year or so and my export always worked fine. I have not used it in a couple months and now my STL export are coming out very small. I am working in milimeter. I have checked the workspace settings. Is there somewhere else for me to check. It does seem to be a 25.4 scaling problem. Tom B.

automate STL Export
I'd like to have a one-click-solution for exporting the selected body as an stl with fine quality, so that I just have to type in a name for the file. sadly, I have no programming experience whatsoever. Has someone already done such a FeatureScript? Thanks in advance!

STL export settings explanation
I'm a bit unclear what each of the settings in the "custom" STL export mean. It's unclear what they control (could the labels be updated to provide more insight?), and it's not in the OnShape documentation, can someone explain what each custom setting controls? Angular deviation: From what? Is this controlling the minimum…

Wrong Section: How to export an STL having a single mesh volume
This question has been moved to the Using OnShape section. I've developed a simple design consisting of 7 parts. When I export an STL,without selecting the 'Export parts as individual files' option, the resulting STL file contains multiple separate volumes. This confuses my slicing software (Simplify3D) because several of…

How to export parts as one
Sorry if this ends up a dup, but the post never showed up I have a parts studio with threaded posts that I use throughout a project. I keep it separate (and another for nuts) just because otherwise the primary parts studio is chaotic and the parts don't need to directly relate (or maybe as you see they do). When, in my…
