Re: burning lines
Lines have no thickness, extrude the rectangle first, then remove lines using extrude, thin, remove and set the thickness to your kerf width. That will model it up in 3d for you and show on drawings. But this may not create a correct dxf for a laser cutter if you just wanting slit lines. You can export your sketch to dxf… -

Configuration is ignored when trying to export drawing via API?
I have this very simple example: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/1924bf2dae91de85359f60db/w/122fe50cf8f782da3f636032/e/9af2fef32d1f0656726a35bf It is a cube with three configuration variables that control its size. The link points to a simple drawing from one of the sides. I want to export this drawing to DXG (via the… -
I cannot recreate the front of this boat
No matter how many sketches, extrusions, chamfers, etc. I've done, I cannot seem to recreate the front of this boat. The front of the boat in the image has a skinny mid section that goes from the top edge of the boat to the bottom whereas my CAD model's mid section increases in width as it goes towards the bottom. I've… -
Re: New Custom Feature: Pipe Centerline
@NeilCooke Here's a link to a document which adds a tubular offset to an edge, then splits the adjoining surfaces, creates a lofted blend between them and replaces that corner with the blend. This demo doesn't do anything 'nice' with the smoothness of the curves, so the resultant surface is likely very heavy (plus there… -
Rib-type axial cam
I found another thread on barrel cams but my question is a little different. I need to model an axial cam for two cam followers. Unlike the groove-type barrel cam, it will have a raised rib with a follower on each side - sort of the inverse of a grooved barrel cam. This a a bit more complicated in that the width of the rib… -
Rectangle Tool - what construction geometry should Onshape provide?
I was disappointed "back in the day" when Solidworks chose to add diagonal construction lines as an option. Of the three possibilities I can think of, it's the least useful. One of the other two possibilities has recently been added to Sldwks (about a decade late, to my way of thinking): a full width construction line in…
