@MichaelPascoe You're getting prolific with the custom features! keep it up. I'll just put this feature in my pocket for that one special case I need it

Thanks bro! I'm learning a lot.

I gave the Onshape team some featurescript feedback from a non coders point of view. As usual they were very attentive and might even add examples for everything in the featurescript documentation!

Usually what happens for me is that I can find what I need in the documentation but I have no idea how to use it. Simple "one line" examples of everything in the documentation would be so useful.

haha, I like the attitude. Turning "non-coder" into an asset, not a liability. I'm in the same boat. I've been thinking about making a short FS tutorial, which I hope might actually be helped by the fact that I'm pretty new to it so I still remember what about it is confusing starting out.

I had the same thought as I started a few weeks ago. So I started a list of tutorial ideas. Feel free to use any of them.

    Featurescript tutorial studios:

    - Creating input boxes.
    - Creating variables.
    - How to use queries. Lots of examples.
    - Adding an icon.
    - How to use oppattern.
    - Adding a flip arrow.
    - Adding a manipulator.
    - How to use an array []
    - How to transform.
    - Simple boolean

it would be great to add the possibility (or at least by default) that each element has different colours (y)

Hey @franco_otaola507, great idea! Per your request, see the latest update:

    Update!

    • Colors now default to white.
    • Optional check box for randomizing colors. (This is set to "Remember previous value", so that once you use it, it will remember your preferences for future use with this feature.)

@franco_otaola507, there is already an Extrude Separate by @Jake_Rosenfeld.

When you say "with all its options", do you mean the latest extrude feature or the options in my Sweep separate feature?

thank you @MichaelPascoe ! I didnt know about it... it is always hard to find the FS  :'(
one last request if you could add this capability to 'offset surface' I would really appreciate it, as at the moment if fuses the surfaces together to give only one, something like 'offset surface Separate'
  • MichaelPascoeMichaelPascoe Member Posts: 1,464 PRO

@franco_otaola507, this is as separate as solid bodies can be. Are you trying to create surfaces instead? What is your end goal?

    Hello Michael,
I meant that when using offset surface tool, with two different surfaces that are one next to each other, it will create only one surface. for example if you use 0 as offset, the result would look like if you fused the two surfaces. for example if you use extrude separately and then select two faces it will create only one surface instead of two

    @franco_otaola507
Hm, you could always sweep them as solids, then delete the end faces to create the surfaces. I'm still not quite sure your end goal. Could you share a part studio of what you are trying to do?
