revolve

Is there a way to remap a revolved flat surface to make the coordinates polar rather orthogonal? I was trying to use Attractor Pattern on a revolved surface (not a full 360 revolve. I'm aware of the limitation) and realized that the underlying grid was perpendicular UV lines and giving me undesired results. The profile for…

I'm trying to make a claw for a Therizinosaurus, but I'm really struggling to get the smooth curve that I want for the claw. is there a simple way I can do this or is onshape not the right programme for this?

i am an Onshape newbie. I have had others design stuff for me and I would often watch but now i want to achieve a degree of proficiency. The goal of this exercise is to create a bowl and to add cover for it. The cover should be split into 6 lobes that are sewn or glued together. I may add a sewing edge (or lace the edges…

I can usually figure this stuff out but this one has me stumped. I have a revolved body (a spindle of sorts) and I'm trying to cut a V-notch the length of the spindle, while that notch rotates 3/4 away around the body. I've tried several ways, but none of the ways seem to get me what I need. I've looked around the forums…

I'm still learning how to use Onshape (I started yesterday, and I am still new to parametric CAD software). I'm having trouble with a resolve cut, and I don't know what is going on. I created a profile for a resolve cut in the middle of an object that I am modeling, and it worked great other than I had it on the top plane…

Hey, I'm a green newb to OnShape, I started this year but I'm having so much fun, in combination with the 3dprinter. I've made some repairs at home, designed toys with my 8y son (TinkerCad) and designed boxes for tools. My problem concerns the latter. I want to shell out this inlay with a wall thickness of 2mm. It shells,…

Hi - I've blown most of today trying to do something that seemed simple at first and would appreciate any tips. I am trying to make a hollow tube with a cone at one end and I can only make a solid cone using Loft. It seems impossible to revolve even just a triangle - I keep getting an error regarding Revolve creating a…

Hi, I've been trying to make a fan and as I understand it a self intersect happens when a part collides with itself when it's crossing over the axis (typically) which is not the case with how I built my project. I'm at a loss to add the fan blades on the center hub, 15 blades at 24 degrees from center. If I'm…

I'm trying to find a way to make something like the attached image. The closest I could get is the other attached image (basically a circle, revolved symetrically, with chamfered ends (I couldn't chamfer more than 0.9mm before it wouldn't work — why is that?). The profile should smoothly taper from the thickest, about 2mm…

I used revolve to create this very basic model. From my understanding revolve will only work with a fully shaded object, and not revolve around a construction line (I'm I mistaken?). I need the cone section hollow, so I figured I could sketch a circle and use the shell command to hollow it out to the specified dimensions.…

revolve up to (flat) surfaceI have a closed profile and an axis leaning against a planeI can revolutionize this closed profile up to a plane (which clearly intersects) and have qCapEntityI wanted to avoid doing a full revolution, cut it and then select the resulting section. Thanks

I'm trying to create ribs on a tilted cone, to form a tube connector. I want to be able to change the number of ribs, so I have created #rib_count. My problem is that I cannot get the ribs to change in number correctly. I tried with a linear pattern within a sketch, but such patterns cannot use variables (I have read that…

So I have this cylinder (just a simple extrude with a chamfer on each end. This is a pin going onto a handle, and I want small bulges to keep the pin from falling out of the handle. I cannot figure out how to add a revolved shape (yes I realize I could recreate the entire shape as a revolve, and if that's the only way,…
