Variable Studio Drop Down Organization
Hey all, I like to use the variable studio a lot but i wish that there were some better options for organization. For example, many times I have variable lists that contain height and width depth for a bunch of different features. It would be wonderful for ease of exploration if we could group these variables together… -
Guidance on planeToWorld and auto placing
Hello everyone, I am building on the collaboration of the 'Table Creator' I'm taking it to a different level. This time I am building a wall and placing a picture on the wall. I have most of the code already written, but if you look at what it creates you'll see that the picture ends up out in space..... I know it has to… -
Barrel Cam Issue with Wrap
Hi, I am attempting to design a simple non-continuous barrel cam for an application. It has a straight section then a section that is at 30deg from the main axis of the cylinder, these are joined by a small circular curve tangent to each. I sketched the centerline, and used the Slot sketch feature to make it the correct… -
Re: The Cloud
So now we just need an internet battery to keep Onshape running in the event of an internet outage. I can not remember the last time our power went out nor the last time I was without internet. Wait the last time without internet was over two years ago so not a major issue for me however we will I will need increased band… -
Re: How to import parts into existing Part Studio? Or, how to edit Parts within an Assembly?
@Axel_2, please refer to my example here , I created a valve in part studio 1, and I wanted to modify its dimensions according to the base , so I derived base from part studio named grinder assembly whose all parts were imported from a step file, after deriving successfully , I moved it to the proper location with… -
How to grab part's dimensions?
Hi guys, I'm designing cabinets, plinths and load of different wood structures. Most of the models contain flat square cut panels,, with general thicknesses from 6mm to 18mm. Usually about 20-30 panels 1 design. I'm looking for an option to make a cut list. As I'm not using the beams/frames option, can't really grab the… -
Re: Sketch > Linear Pattern - Distribute, Relative Spacing, Add Elements, Mirroring
@karl_mochel What does FEATURE patterning allow you to do ? Look at the three GIFs below, and then the four pictures, then scroll down to the bottom where you could read the text https://cad.onshape.com/documents/479e7ba8380e638d788f081f/w/cd1ad8a1f32c6c7a4e8996ac/e/2b2c8b62db81e7110468b5d3 I’ve made a soap dish more like… -
Re: Sketch becomes unsolvable when doing anything, how can I fix?
Interesting. I didn’t pick up on the subtle arcs. I’m confused because I didn’t see a 1mm width difference, but rather 0.1mm. From an ID and manufacturing level, 0.05 crown over that distance and size is within typical tolerances. If indeed you want a very subtle crown, I might add a driven radius dimension for reference… -
pattern to follow a shape for length
Hi, trying to create a pattern of slots whose length is governed by a circle. Ie the overall shape of the 12 linear slots fits into a circle for a fan. In SW or Creo I would just make the length of the slot controlled by the round curve (so the only two slot dimensions would be the width of the sclot and it's distance from… -
Internal Cylindrical Cam Track
I trying to model a cylinder/barrel with an internal CAM track around the Inner Diameter. I figured I could create and model a tool in CAD to Boolean/cut the cam track out of the barrel. To do this I need a solid cylinder with a raised CAM Track around the outer diameter. Using that, I would model a barrel around the tool…
