To the individual downvoting my ChatGPT posts: Is it ChatGPT you're not fond of, or do you feel the content isn't amusing enough? I'd appreciate any feedback

I’m sure they are only down voting because you mentioned it!

Oh don't worry, we still have need of SW for a bit. So, my next task is to upgrade our server so we can pay thousands of dollars to REMOVE licenses from SW... Since we would need to switch to a floating license model.

We are about to update from SW2023 to 2024 (Since you always have to wait for 3 service packs before you get to actually try the 'current version' of solidworks without having crippling day 1 bugs)

Having to update tweak some legacy stuff in SW today… I guess I'll know how well it went by the 31st!

I saw this post on LinkedIn and I had to laugh. This is one of those things that I never have to think about any more. I never have to worry that my team, or my clients/vendors aren't all on the same service pack. To think that we would vote and discuss this stuff. Yes it was important to me because it affected me, but wow, even as a CAD admin, this shouldn't have been my problem.

For those who might consider the Solidworks for Makers version, here's a video of the process of updating to the latest version - over 28 minutes!!! And a lot of clicks, UserID and Password entering multiple times, etc…

So yesterday was an outage of AWS and a lot of services were not reachable.
    Like Autodesk License Server:

I wonder if anyone noticed any problems with Onshape?

I bet it was Neil's secret backup server protecting us from the outage.

Just saw this morning that Solidworks is dropping the 3dExperience branding from all of their offerings, but otherwise making no changes to that platform or those products. Sure guys, the branding was the problem. 🙄

In a sense it was (has been) not the branding itself, but the whole vision of it. Has never been about the user or customer, but this distopian vision of what the world of "product development" would become. I used to be very involved in the SW community, I remember it just felt "Off" since day one when announced at SWWorld like 15 years ago.
