Does "Copy Workspace" increase speed of large assemblies ?
Hi, I have some large assemblies with a lot of versions that are slow in OnShape, some assemblies have more than 100 versions... Recently I noticed that if I copy the document (Copy Workspace) all the versions are removed in the new document. Will this removal of versions improve performance of OnShape for this new…

Subassembly is not updating
How do I get a subassembly to update in another assembly? I'm somewhat new to Onshape so I'm thinking I must just be missing something? Here is the link to the document: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/0972c60bd97f846dd45ef552/w/0b8a3bba54a2f379908deb3e/e/eae8273619aef6653973b63c I want the assembly "Mezzanine Main…

Assembly Animation Pen, and ease of use request
When designing moving parts, such as linkages, it would be convenient to place pens at connecting joints to see the joint's motion. Does OnShape have this capability? I do have a linkage and gear modeling tool, found on the internet, that has the pen feature which came in very handy. Linkage Mechanism Designer and…

Animated Assembly, Part Interference, and basic new user questions
Document In the above document assembly is a linkage design. It animates fine but I have a few questions. 1. In the design are two short arms, Pivot Arms. These arms cannot drop below the axis points. Yet if one spins the large gear by hand or grabs another of the arms to animate sometimes the small arms drop below the…

New Using Assembly, having issues with linkage motion, all revoultes
Document The seventh resolute connection causes all resolute to fail. Looking at the design... the large gear rotates in either direction, no limits. All other joints/ connections rotate based on the large gear rotation and are limited by the linkage interconnections. This is a classic Klann Linkage design. I'm missing…

Having trouble with Tangent Mate, sometimes it works after a reload, sometimes it doesn't
I'm working on a gear driven linkage for creating a shaking movement. The Tangent Mate in this Assembly seems to be kind of iffy. Sometimes it works fine when I Animate one of the Revolute Mates, and other times I get an error or even worse, a bunch of broken Mates throughout the assembly. Sometimes I can fix it by just…

Export, but not everything in the Assembly
I have imported a kitchen wall and floor, then I've made a kitchen assembly. Now I want to export it, but I don't want to export the floor and wall again. Can I exclude this from the export in some smart way. I could hide them, I assume, but it's tedious every time I want to export.

Drawing parts to print in two different colors
First... I am new to 3D printing and ultimately 3D drawing... I need to design a ring with degree numbers on it, which I have done, but I want to have the base ring in one color and the dial numbers in a different color when it prints.. I am building/printing on a Lulzbot Pro dual extruder, and Cura as the slicing…

Explode Assembly
Does anyone know of a program that does a good job exploding an assembly and inserting trail lines or whatever you want to call them?I have an assembly with hundreds of parts and doing it all manually is painful and I am already losing money on the project without spending all that time on it.I've tried a few things (have…

Linking a configurable variable in an assembly
Given that (to my knowledge) there is no way to have a sketch text linked to a configurable variable I went ahead and wrote my own feature script that takes a text field in the from a configurable variable and engraves said text onto the part. This part is then used in an assembly and I want to, in the assembly level, be…
