How do I make two-sided milling in CAM Studio?
I'm trying to figure out how prepare a two-sided model for milling in CAM Studio. I.e. I want to first mill one side, than flip the stock over 180 degrees and mill the other side. Is there some functionality for this that I havn't found? Thanks!

How to set a tolerance range for calculations in Part Studio?
Hi everyone, In Onshape’s Part Studio, I’d like to control the calculation precision so that values like 1.0001 and 1.001 are treated as 1. This would help prevent minor numerical differences from affecting modeling or calculations. I considered using FeatureScript to round values manually, but I’m wondering if there’s a…

How can I do that?
Hi, I need to have a tool to put on air filters from my motorcycle. It should be placed at a wall and the filter should go on there and hang a bit down. I will add a picture of what I want. Can you tell me how to do it in onshape? The black line is the wall. The black part is the air filter holder and the red should be the…

Issue with Open Vectors in Onshape → OpenBuilds CAM
Hi, I designed a bracket in Onshape and exported it as a DXF file for use in OpenBuilds CAM. When I try to generate a toolpath, I get the following error message: "This toolpath contains 1 open vector(s), and 0 closed vector(s). You cannot use Offset operations on Open Vectors. You can try to use 'No Offset' operations or…

how to Animate this Pin and Slot through a curved feature
I just can figure this one out. I have this simple model with a slotted curved arm and a pin. I want to Animate this so that the pin follows the slot (as in the attached gif). I've tried multiple combinations of Pin Slot Mates, Planar Mates and Tangent Mates but I cannot seem to get any Animation to work. In the gif I have…

Why is my assembly overdefined?
Sorry I'm still a beginner, but I cant seem to understand what joint is over defining my assembly. I just want to pull the finger down by pulling a solenoid back, but when i put the final revolute joint, it all breaks. If i suppress the slider joint and freely move it, then its perfectly capable of doing the motion I want,…

How to prevent unintended/undesired constraints
This keeps happening to me and I just spent a bunch of time debugging — last straw… When drawing a bunch of figures in a sketch, onshape offers interesting constraints to "snap" your line, circle, center… to nearby interesting points. This can be super useful. However, it can also result in unintended constraints that then…

Won't shell because of certain curves?
Hey, I'm a green newb to OnShape, I started this year but I'm having so much fun, in combination with the 3dprinter. I've made some repairs at home, designed toys with my 8y son (TinkerCad) and designed boxes for tools. My problem concerns the latter. I want to shell out this inlay with a wall thickness of 2mm. It shells,…

Named render modes
Is there a way to make named render modes that I can easily switch between? I tried named views and display states but neither capture the current render mode, which is understandable for their intended purpose. I use two to three render modes commonly, in both part studios and assemblies, and switching requires multiple…

Offset tool on Text?
Is it possible to use the offset tool on text in a sketch? I'm designing a thingamabob to print on my 3D printer. I want to print and object, then have a text inlay printed as a separate part that snaps into the first part. I'm new at 3D printing, but I'm comfortably certain that I need to allow a small gap between the…

Issue with using the loft tool to cover some squares
I do not exactly know how to use forums, so apologies if I am using it wrong. However I do have an issue with making a shell for my model, it looks alright(-ish) and does have some clipping, I have some ideas on how to solve it. However… I have no idea how to finish the top of the model.…

Why is the dimension tool not functioning when trying to dimension a fillet when creating a Drawing.
When creating a drawing, the dimension tool does not function properly when dimensioning a fillet. It used to work, but no longer works and I don't know how to fix it. I am teaching a class and the fillet tool works for most students but, for a couple of them, it does not work. The dimension tool is active (ON), I try to…

Simplify Geometry for URDF
We are currently developing the 3D-printable robot "pib" and aim to streamline the generation of a URDF file. Challenge: Our primary challenge is obtaining simplified geometry that represents only the outer shell of each movable component. At present, we create new Part Studios and merge each part into one. Subsequently,…

Thicken failure
Hi, This relates to a model aircraft turtle deck. Can anyone advise why the thicken in this document fails please? I need the thicken to work inwardly, it currently only works outwardly. https://cad.onshape.com/documents/fe80892a600c8d5a25408745/w/c6a7d33eb9629d4740decbf1/e/3e14da01e17f513433dd1023 Thank you.

Sketches in CAM
I need to re-orient my part for CAM and can't figure out exactly how to do it. Basically I'm Y-up now and I need Z-up. My part is mostly cylindrical with no orthaganal cuts in it so I cannot select grooves or anything to re-orient my axes. What would be really handy is for me to be able to see sketches in CAM Studio. Then…

Attempting to bend these surfaces over the curved line. I can share the document if needed, but this might be such a simple answer i'm missing. Still Having Loft Issues....
So earlier I posted a question regarding my inability to resolve a loft in my project. After receiving some help I was able to get it to "partially" resolve. However I am still unable to use all of my guide lines. The loft continues to fail anytime I add a 3rd guide line and onshape almost always refers to one of the…

Working with imported step file
hello all, long time lurker and first time posting 😀 I’m trying to create a mini body that I can 3D print in 1/12 scale. I’ve tried to thicken (to 2mm) and all the other methods I can think…

How to Set Sketch Origin to Plane Origin in Onshape?
I have some CAD feature models that include planar sketches defined by 3D points and coordinate systems, as well as extrusions. Now, I need to recreate the same models in Onshape based on this data. Customizing the names of parts generated by patterns
I've yet to dip my toes into FeatureScript but this might be the problem that makes me jump in if it's solvable. Does the API give you access to control the names of parts generated by a custom feature?
