Issues with loft function
Hello, I’m quite new to Onshape, and I’m having some issues with the loft function. I’m trying to create a propeller blade (3 cm wide) and add a twist to it. I’ve made curves that the profile should follow, and I used airfoil generators to create the NACA profile. However, whenever I try to use the loft tool to make the…

purpose of setting the origin or chosing a new defined mate in a context design?
So I use "in context design" a lot and it is a very powerful way to design something that works together with other parts. I have noticed that nothing much changes when you choose the origin or when you make a self defined mate as origin for your in context design. I followed the "in context design" course till about 50%…

Putting countersunk holes on a wrapped part around a cyclinder
I have a cylindrical piece that I want to add a lens (which will have an LED strip in the lens). I want to use countersunk screws to attach the lens to the cylinder body. 1. How do I create countersunk holes on the Lens (in grey) 2. How do I extend the holes into the body (in blue) who they will be tapped when I 3d print…

Spline constraints
I'm looking to constrain splines within a drawing. I can't work out how to constrain the direction/length of the spline handle... Any tips? Also, it appears that there are no spline handles for points except for the start and end points. Is that really true? How do I manipulate the length/angle of a curve within the…

is it possible deactivate a thread so you will not be notified?
Ok so this is not about the workings of the cad but the forums. Is it possible to unsubscribe from one thread that has been resolved or has an answer assigned, so I am not notified anymore? I can unsubscribe from notifications of course, but the choices I have I think are about all the notifications, not thread related. if…

How can you wrap/ project a pattern onto an irregular lofted surface? Is it possible?
I have a model that I created with a loft and have it both has a solid and a surface. I am trying to wrap a pattern/text around it to give it some character. I know wraps only work with cylindrical surfaces, so how do I add texture to this surface? Can this be done in Onshape, or should I use something like Blender/ZBrush?

Onspace workspaces / documents look corrupted / unusable (only some element remain)- setting or bug?
Hi! With several projects now I have the issue that at a seemingly random moment while editing, the whole workspace becomes blank only showing the main axes several curves (correction: in this case these are not the main axes but rather several curves I have added to the sketch to make a axis system centered on my object u…

Issues with Transforming imported Model
Something I've been really struggling with is when importing a model getting the part oriented the way I want it once I import it, I've had some success if there are certain features on some parts that I can rotate about. I've looked up some of the tutorials on how to do it to no avail. Wondering if someone can hop on with…

3D printing - Where do I start?
I've made a part to be 3D printed, however I don't know if I need to change the infil now (in the design studio in onshape) or later. once that's done then what file type do i export it as (I'm using a Creality ender 3 pro 3D printer) Any kind of help would be much appreciated. Here's a picture of the thing I'm printing…

Using Clips In Wiring
Hi All, We are routing a harness, lots of wires etc. So we guess the quickest way would be using clips (Firtree made as a clip) then route a wire through it and then other wires follow the first etc. We have created the clip etc but struggling to work out how to place it in the part studio of the harness etc. is there a…

How to cut a big part into printable smaller parts

Student inlog
Hi, Some of my 40 students (age 14) were not able to create an account last fall. I am not sure why. Can you possibly see if they did something wrong? For example fransis.neby@elevmail.stockholm.se linus.2.sjostrom@elevmail.stockholm.se Most of my students succeeded, for example olivia.noori@elevmail.stockholm.se and…

help turning imported STL surface mesh into solid part
Hi everyone, I have a bit of a problem. I built a boat using a ship design programme for a project at university. Now I want to continue using it and convert the hull into a boat to use as an RC boat. Is there a way to get such a STL mesh into a part? I'm a bit out of my depth with my skills so if anyone can help that…

assembly degrees of freedom
Hello, found this older post with no conclusive answer. assembly degrees of freedom — Onshape I have a lot of (quite complex) assemblies with mates relative to a (virtual) origin point and the position of parts is depending of the mates of several other parts (mimicking the actual degrees of freedom in the real assembly)…

Best way of limiting to certain kind of materials
For example I want to build a chair out of 40x20mm square tubing. Is there a good way of limiting myself to only use this material when building up a sketch? And to later know how many meters worth of the material was used (or get a cut list) And the next question would be if it's possible to limit myself to the amount of…

Help with understanding assemblies
I have created a chicken coop design. All in one parts studio. It has 105 parts, most of which are wood beam/cladding. My understanding is that in order to create a drawing, I need to create assemblies of the different "groups" in the coop (skeleton, walls, floor, roofs, ramp). So I started inserting these, but I don't…
